Product Description

The Kato NK-280 is a fully hydraulic truck-mounted crane rated for a maximum lifting capacity of 28 tons. Built for mobility and efficient operation across urban or infrastructure job sites, this model integrates Kato’s well-established engineering with a boom and jib system capable of extensive reach and load handling.

The main boom comprises a 4-section telescoping design extending from 10 meters to 31 meters. An optional 13.5-meter jib can be added, bringing the total maximum boom length to 44.5 meters and the highest lifting height to 44.8 meters (with jib) or 31.2 meters with the main boom alone. This gives the NK-280 considerable reach for a crane in this capacity class.

Its lifting performance is backed by a precise hydraulic system powered by a Nissan diesel engine (model ZH100) through a combination of gear pumps and variable control mechanisms. Boom hoisting and extension are managed by a cylinder system with a boom elevation range from 0° to 80°. The swing mechanism uses a planetary gear system, with a 360° rotation capability at 2.7 rpm.

Line speeds vary based on hoisting layer and pump mode, with the primary rope hoisting speeds reaching up to 48 meters/minute under normal operation, and jib hoisting speeds around 24 meters/minute. The load is managed via a 3-fall reeving system for improved distribution and winch control. The boom hoist cylinder offers three extension stages with lifting speeds from approximately 0.27 m/s to 0.16 m/s.

The carrier features a twin-axle truck chassis with a compact overall width of 2.4 meters and height under 3.4 meters, providing excellent maneuverability and clearance. Outriggers and stability devices support safe lifting during operations.

In terms of safety, the NK-280 incorporates multiple standard systems such as an overload prevention device, boom angle limiter, drum lock, and boom backstop, along with optional features like ACS (Automatic Crane Safety), winch drum rotation indicators, and hook safety locks.

Altogether, the Kato NK-280 blends robust lifting performance with a compact and mobile truck design, making it ideal for contractors requiring a reliable crane for medium-scale hoisting, particularly in urban or constrained jobsite conditions.
