Key Features & Benefits
The Kato NK-65 was engineered as a user-friendly, lightweight hydraulic truck crane that delivers solid lifting capacity in a highly mobile package. Rated at 6.5 tons, this model is the largest crane that could legally be operated on Japanese roads with a standard driver’s license when launched. The crane’s boom extends from a basic length of 7.7 meters to a maximum of 13.6 meters, and it can be paired with a 6-meter jib, achieving a maximum lifting height of 13.7 meters. This makes the NK-65 highly versatile for residential construction, small-scale infrastructure work, and utility maintenance.
Its hydraulic winch system delivers a main hoist line speed of 70 m/min (third layer), and auxiliary winch speeds also reach 70 m/min. Boom elevating operations are efficient, ranging from 3° to 78° in 22 seconds, with a slewing speed of 2.8 rpm. The main and auxiliary hooks use 6-part and single-line reeving, respectively.
Powered by a dual gear pump and axial piston hydraulic system, the NK-65 features a simple yet reliable control layout with a focus on efficiency and safety. Safety systems include overhoist protection, hydraulic relief valves, boom and rotation lock devices, and outriggers with independent hydraulic control. The cab is ergonomically designed with a wide field of view and large windows, while the boom tip includes a rooster sheave for two-line operation, improving handling for simple loads.
Mounted on the Nissan KL300 chassis with a vehicle weight of approximately 7,945 kg, the NK-65 is road-friendly and can be driven to job sites directly, further enhancing its appeal for small contractors and municipal services.
