Product Description
The Link-Belt HTC-50W is a classic 50-ton hydraulic truck crane designed for efficiency and adaptability in medium-duty lifting operations. It features a standard 4-section boom ranging from 35′ to 90′ (10.67 m to 27.43 m), constructed with high-strength steel and supported by wear shoes for added durability during extension. For additional reach, optional boom extensions are available, expanding the boom length up to 120′ (36.58 m) with a 4-section configuration.
To enhance lifting capability, the HTC-50W offers a variety of attachments including a standard 34’6″ (10.52 m) fly boom and optional 30′ (9.14 m) jib with multiple offset angles, increasing maximum tip height to 168′ (51.21 m) when fully rigged. Its lifting system includes an optional auxiliary lifting sheave and boom head sheaves designed for up to 10 parts of line, improving flexibility for various hoisting operations. Elevation of the boom is controlled by two FMC-designed hydraulic cylinders, allowing a range from -5° to 80°.
Mounted on an 8×4 drive chassis, the HTC-50W is engineered for roadability and site mobility. The chassis measures 9’10” (3.00 m) in width with a 230″ (5.84 m) wheelbase and includes tandem drive axles at both front and rear. Standard suspension comprises Reyco spring suspension up front and a Hendrickson solid-mounted bogie beam at the rear. The front uses 16:50 x 22.5 (16-ply) tubeless tires, while the rear comes with 12:00 x 20 (16-ply) tube tires, with an option for lug-type rears.
For power, customers can choose between two engines: the GM 6-71N, a 6-cylinder 2-stroke diesel rated at 238 hp with 635 ft-lbs torque, or the Cummins NTCC-230, a 6-cylinder 4-stroke diesel producing 230 hp and 650 ft-lbs torque. Both engines share a 92-gallon (348.22 L) fuel capacity and 65-amp alternators, with maximum travel speeds reaching up to 45.88 mph (73.82 km/h) and gradeability of up to 55%, depending on the engine choice.
The hydraulic system is driven by a tandem, triple gear-type main pump and an auxiliary Speed-o-Matic control system, capable of reaching 2,800 psi (193.1 Bars) of system pressure. The crane also features FMC’s dual-mode load hoisting system with automatic disc brakes and clutch engagement for controlled lifting and lowering, plus a two-speed hoist motor and internal drum clutches.
Control is centralized within an isolated, sound-insulated cab equipped with all-weather seals, tinted windows, and ergonomic levers for boom and swing operations. Additional standard features include electric windshield wipers, an air horn, heater, and fire extinguisher. Outriggers are fully hydraulic and designed for fast deployment, with optional bumper and bumper outrigger extensions available for added stability.
Overall, the Link-Belt HTC-50W combines solid lifting performance, extensive reach capabilities, and proven drivetrain and hydraulic technologies, making it an enduring workhorse for construction fleets requiring mobile and flexible crane solutions.
