Sany STC250C5-8, 25 ton hydraulic truck crane with 41m main boom

Key Features & Benefits

The SANY STC250C5-8 was developed as an upgraded 25-ton truck crane targeted at operators requiring stronger lifting charts, improved fuel efficiency, and enhanced intelligent control systems in a compact mobile platform. Introduced in the 2025 product generation, the crane incorporates several updated technologies including the i-EHC2.0 electro-hydraulic compound system, environmental adaptive hydraulic management, and i-Crane intelligent operating functions.

One of the main highlights of the crane is SANY’s second-generation electro-hydraulic compound control system, which offers three operating modes consisting of conventional mode, high-efficiency mode, and micro-movement mode. This system was developed to improve lifting precision while allowing operators to select different response characteristics depending on the lifting application. The hydraulic system also incorporates environmental adaptive technology capable of automatically recognizing engine operating conditions and intelligently matching hydraulic power demand with engine output.

The crane uses SANY’s i-ECO2.0 energy-saving system with variable power hydraulic pumps, high-efficiency energy-saving modules, and sensorless regeneration technology. According to SANY, the system can reduce operating fuel consumption by approximately 20% during prolonged operation.

Structurally, the STC250C5-8 utilizes a five-section telescopic boom manufactured from high-strength welded structural steel using a new-generation elliptical boom profile. SANY stated that this updated elliptical cross-section design reduces boom deflection and side bending by approximately 3% while improving high-frequency operating performance by around 6%.

The boom extends from a basic length of 10.7 m to a maximum main boom length of 41 m. An optional 8 m jib can be installed, increasing the maximum lifting height to approximately 49.5 m. The jib can be mounted at offset angles of 0°, 15°, and 30° to provide additional flexibility during lifting operations.

The crane delivers a maximum rated lifting capacity of 25 tonnes with a maximum lifting moment of 1,142 kN·m on the basic boom. Maximum lifting moment on the fully extended main boom is rated at 727 kN·m, while the fully extended boom with jib configuration reaches 390 kN·m.

Mounted on a three-axle carrier, the STC250C5-8 has a total vehicle weight of approximately 31,700 kg. Overall dimensions measure 13,020 mm in length, 2,550 mm in width, and 3,500 mm in height. The crane uses a 2-axle plus 3-axle drive arrangement with hydraulically assisted steering on the first axle.

Power is supplied by a Yuchai YCS07L300-66 diesel engine compliant with China National VI emission standards. The engine develops 221 kW at 2,200 rpm and maximum torque of 1,190 Nm between 1,100 and 1,700 rpm. The engine is paired with a FAST 9-speed transmission equipped with synchronizers for smoother shifting and improved road performance.

The carrier chassis uses a large cross-section frame designed and manufactured by SANY. The axles incorporate inter-axle and inter-wheel differential locks together with punch-welded axle housings for improved load-bearing capability and durability. The front axle utilizes leaf spring suspension while the center and rear axles use rubber suspension systems to improve ride comfort and shock absorption.

The crane is capable of travelling at speeds up to 90 km/h with maximum gradeability rated at 44%. Minimum turning radius is approximately 10.5 m, allowing the crane to operate effectively within tighter urban working environments.

The outrigger system adopts an H-type layout with four-point support and is manufactured from fine-grain high-strength steel plates. Outrigger span measures 6.4 m transversely and 5.35 m longitudinally. Vertical outrigger cylinders are fitted with dual hydraulic locks to improve operational safety.

The hydraulic system was designed for smoother combined operations and precise lifting control. The crane uses quantitative motor winches for improved hoisting efficiency and stable lifting performance under heavy loads. Maximum single-line winch speed for both the main and auxiliary winches reaches 125 m/min. Maximum single-line pulling force is rated at 3.5 tonnes.

Maximum slewing speed reaches 2.6 rpm through a 1,250 mm diameter slewing bearing system designed to provide smooth and stable rotational control. Boom lifting and lowering time is approximately 40 seconds upward and 60 seconds downward, while full boom extension and retraction require approximately 80 and 105 seconds respectively.

The operator’s cab and superstructure cabin were independently developed by SANY with emphasis on comfort and visibility. Features include outward-opening cab doors, air-conditioning, panoramic sunroof, adjustable seating, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen display integrated with crane operating systems and safety monitoring functions.

The control system adopts a CAN-bus integrated electrical architecture capable of monitoring both driving and crane operating parameters in real time. The crane includes high-precision torque monitoring, multi-dimensional safety detection systems, and intelligent operating recommendations.

Safety systems include hydraulic relief valves, counterbalance valves, bi-directional hydraulic locks, torque limiters, three-wrap protection systems, and height limiters to improve operational safety during lifting operations.

The STC250C5-8 is equipped with a standard 6.8-ton counterweight package and is intended to provide strong lifting performance while maintaining compact transport dimensions suitable for urban and regional construction environments.
