Grove RT59S

The Grove RT59S is a compact and reliable 15-ton rough terrain crane built for versatility and performance in confined jobsite conditions. It offers a choice of boom configurations, including a 3-section 21 to 51 ft, a 3-section 24 to 60 ft, and a 3-section 28 to 70 ft telescopic boom. For added reach, a 4-section 24 to 78 ft boom is available, utilizing two full-power sections and a fly section that can be manually extended. Integral safety holding valves are built into each telescoping cylinder for secure operation.

Jib options include 16 ft, 19 ft, and 25 ft stowable jibs, all single-cable and self-equalizing, compatible with boom lengths from 21 to 78 ft. Boom elevation ranges from 0° to 75° using twin double-acting hydraulic cylinders with safety valves. Swing is continuous 360° rotation via a ball bearing turntable, with a 2.5 rpm hydraulic planetary gear swing drive and integrated swing brake and lock.

The hydraulic system is driven by a 3-section gear-type pump delivering 112 GPM at 2400 rpm, operating via a torque converter-driven PTO. A separate pump delivers 185 GPM for steering and control systems. The system controls all key crane functions including hoists, boom, swing, outriggers, and rear steering. The reservoir holds 90 gallons, supported by a return-line filter and air-to-oil cooler.

Outriggers are of the full hydraulic, box-beam sliding type, with vertical jack cylinders, check valves, and integral safety locks. They extend to a 16 ft 3 in center-to-center span and retract to 7 ft 1.75 in, providing excellent stability across various terrains.

Powered by a Clark power-shift transmission, the RT59S includes six forward and six reverse speeds. Both front and rear axles use heavy-duty planetary gears with dual steering cylinders and automatic oscillation lockout. It has a tight turning radius of just 18 ft 11 in.

Tire options include 16.00×24 16-ply heavy-duty Rock Grader rims and 16.00×25 20-ply Earthmover tires. The maximum rated capacity is 30,000 lbs (15 tons), but when operating on 17.5 tires or lifting on rubber, the crane is limited to 18,000 lbs.

With a 50-gallon fuel capacity, durable steel cab construction, and full hydraulic controls, the Grove RT59S is a practical and efficient crane solution for lifting in tight or rough terrain environments. It offers a well-rounded mix of reach, lifting capacity, and maneuverability.
