The Kato KR-20H-3 is a 20-ton rough terrain crane featuring a four-section, fully hydraulic boom extending up to 28 meters. With a jib length of 4.5 meters and a maximum lifting height of 32.5 meters, this model is designed for compact sites, offering robust off-road mobility and efficient lifting performance.

Product Description
The Kato KR-20H-3 is a compact, high-performing 20-ton rough terrain crane tailored for a wide range of lifting operations, particularly in environments where space and maneuverability are critical. This model represents a refined evolution in the 20-ton class, focusing on a balance of boom reach, lifting capability, and site flexibility.
At the heart of the KR-20H-3 is a four-section telescopic boom with a fully hydraulic extension system, spanning from 6.3 meters to a maximum of 28 meters. Its rounded boom profile and high-tensile steel construction provide excellent structural integrity while minimizing flex during lifting. The crane is also equipped with a 4.5-meter fly jib that can be offset at 5°, 25°, or 45°, offering additional flexibility for lifting over obstacles or at elevated angles. With the jib in use, the maximum lifting height reaches 32.5 meters.
The crane’s lifting performance is supported by a powerful main winch offering a line pull of 40.1 kN (approximately 4.1 tons) and a maximum hoisting speed of 95 m/min. The auxiliary winch provides similar performance for dual lifting operations. Both winches use a 12.5 mm rope over a drum with a capacity of 120 meters. The boom elevation system supports angles between -2° and 82°, ensuring precise positioning and high-angle lifting ability.
Powered by a Mitsubishi 6D16-T diesel engine, the KR-20H-3 delivers 169 PS (metric horsepower) at 2,900 rpm, ensuring strong output for both driving and hydraulic operations. It utilizes a torque converter transmission and 4×4 drive configuration, allowing the crane to travel on-site or on-road at speeds up to 47 km/h. With a minimum turning radius of just 6.8 meters, it navigates confined areas with ease.
The machine is supported by hydraulically operated outriggers with vertical and horizontal extension for stable base positioning on uneven ground. Its hydraulic system features multiple tandem variable plunger pumps with a total tank capacity of 215 liters, providing responsive, multi-function operation.
Operator comfort and control are prioritized in the KR-20H-3 with a fully enclosed cabin equipped with wide visibility, ergonomic controls, and instrumentation including a moment limiter and automatic engine overrun prevention system. Safety systems include a hydraulic safety valve, automatic winch brake, hoist limiters, and a hook safety latch.
Overall, the Kato KR-20H-3 excels in mid-range lifting tasks where tight space, reliable performance, and agility are essential. It combines modern engineering, a well-balanced boom and jib system, and intuitive operator features to deliver reliable performance on any rough or urban terrain.
