Key Features & Benefits
The KR-50H-L2 (SL-600-2) is one of Kato’s premium mid-capacity rough terrain cranes, designed to provide maximum reach and operational efficiency within the 50-ton class. It features a 6-section telescopic hydraulic boom with a full extension from 10.0 to 43.0 meters. An optional 2-stage SL jib adds between 8.3 to 13.2 meters of extra reach, with total lifting height extending to 57.1 meters and a working radius over 43 meters. The jib supports variable offset angles between 5° and 60°, ideal for overhead and angular lifting challenges.
The main boom supports a maximum lifting capacity of 51,000 kg at a 2.9-meter radius with 12-part line reeving, and sustains 7,000 kg at an 11-meter radius on full extension. The SL jib allows lifting up to 3,500 kg (8.3 m) or 2,500 kg (13.2 m), while a 4,500 kg rooster sheave adds further utility.
Power comes from a Mitsubishi 6D24-TLE2A turbocharged diesel engine, producing 243 kW (330 PS) at 2,200 rpm with 1,245 Nm of torque. The crane is driven via a full-time 4×4 system with a 6-speed forward, 2-speed reverse transmission, hydropneumatic suspension, and advanced braking including dual air-hydraulic systems and a fluid retarder for worksite stability.
Dual winches are powered by hydraulic motors, capable of hoisting speeds up to 145 m/min and delivering high-efficiency performance under load. The slewing system rotates at 1.9 rpm with integrated braking for precise positioning.
Outrigger flexibility is a core feature, with multiple positions ranging from a max span of 7.6 meters down to a minimum of 2.69 meters, enhancing usability on narrow sites. Safety is provided through Kato’s ACS (Automatic Crane System), including automatic swing stops, soft stop on boom operations, over-wind prevention, and range limiters, alongside real-time monitoring of boom angles and load status.
The cab is designed for operator comfort and control with air conditioning, dehumidifier, high-back adjustable suspension seat, rear monitor, power windows, winch cameras, and a tilting/telescoping steering wheel. Storage, lighting, and entertainment accessories (AM/FM radio, lunch table, etc.) round out the well-appointed interior.
With a total operating weight of 39,635 kg and compact steering radius of just 6.44 meters in 4-wheel steer mode, the KR-50H-L2 excels in tight environments where heavy lifting and long reach are essential. It stands as a reliable solution for civil works, plant setup, and general construction lifting needs.
