The SANY SRC865 rough terrain crane combines lifting power, off-road mobility, and advanced control technology in a 65 US ton class machine. At its heart is a Cummins QSB6.7 Tier 3 diesel engine delivering 250 hp (186.4 kW) at 2500 rpm, driving a high-performance hydraulic system composed of Parker piston pumps and Husco post-compensated valves. This setup ensures smooth multifunction load sharing and precise control, while also optimizing fuel efficiency with horsepower-limited pump design and built-in energy-saving features.

The crane’s four-section, synchronized and fully powered boom extends from 37 ft (11.3 m) to 113 ft (34.4 m), providing excellent reach and flexibility on site. The boom elevates from -2° to +78°, achieving a maximum tip height of 121.3 ft (37 m). For additional reach, a side-mounted bi-fold boom extension measuring from 30.2 ft to 52.5 ft (9.2 m to 16 m) is available, with offset positions of 0°, 15°, and 30°. With this extension, the maximum tip height reaches 174.1 ft (53 m).

The hoisting system features Braden main and auxiliary winches, each independently controlled via pilot-operated hydraulic joysticks. The main hoist achieves maximum line pull of 18,210 lbs (81 kN) and a line speed up to 492 ft/min (150 m/min). The winches use 3/4 in (19 mm) diameter wire rope, with drum capacities of up to 906 ft (276 m). Drum rotation indicators and hi-low speed switching are incorporated in the operator’s controls for efficient load handling.

The swing system provides continuous 360° rotation through a planetary drive, offering either free swing or automatic brake application according to operator preference. The maximum swing speed is 2.5 rpm, and the swing tail radius is 13 ft 10 in (4.2 m).

Built for off-road performance, the carrier features 4×4 hydrostatic steering with AxleTech axles and Dana powershift transmission. The drivetrain delivers six forward and reverse speeds with a top travel speed of 25 mph (40 km/h). The SRC865 uses large 29.5 x 25 earthmover-style tires with excellent flotation, a maximum gradeability of 142% GVW, and three-position hydraulically controlled outriggers providing up to 23.6 ft (7.2 m) spread and 14 in (356 mm) ground penetration.

Safety and operational monitoring are ensured by SANY’s integrated Load Moment Limiter (LML) system, displayed on a large screen in the cab, and complemented by features like anti-two-block device, hoist drum rotation indicators, boom angle and length indicators, boom lowering limiters, load holding valves on all load-supporting cylinders, outrigger position sensors, third-wrap indicators, backup alarms, swing locks, seat switches, and a full lighting package.

The operator’s cab is fully enclosed and built with heavy-duty steel construction. It offers superior visibility with tinted safety glass throughout, including an opening skylight with visor and wiper system. Interior features include acoustical insulation, deluxe six-way adjustable seat with mechanical suspension, ergonomic armrest-mounted joysticks, cab spotlights, air conditioning, and built-in diagnostics display via CAN bus-connected 24-volt electrical system.
