Product Description

The Terex RT665 is a high-capacity 65-ton rough terrain crane, designed for challenging off-road environments and heavy-duty lifting tasks. Its four-section, fully synchronized telescoping boom extends from 36 ft to 111 ft (11 m to 33.8 m), constructed with high-strength steel using a four-plate design welded inside and out to ensure durability while reducing weight. The boom provides a maximum tip height of 121 ft (36.9 m), which can be extended further with an optional 32 ft to 57 ft (9.8 m to 17.3 m) offsettable jib, offering additional reach for complex lifting jobs.

The boom’s operation is supported by a single boom hoist cylinder, offering elevation angles from -4° to 80°, enabling efficient rigging changes and optimal positioning in confined spaces. The quick-reeving boom head design simplifies the rigging process, allowing fast adjustments without the need to remove the wedge from the socket.

The RT665 is powered by a Cummins QSB 5.9L 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that delivers 215 hp (160 kW) at 2,500 RPM. This engine provides the necessary power for both crane operations and travel functions, with a top speed of 23.4 mph (37.7 km/h). The transmission is a full powershift system with six forward and six reverse gears, supported by a torque converter for smooth operation on difficult terrains. The crane’s 4×4 drive system, combined with its hydraulic four-wheel steering, offers three steering modes—front-wheel, four-wheel coordinated, and crab steering—providing excellent maneuverability on rough and uneven ground.

The crane’s lifting operations are enhanced by its dual-speed hydraulic winches, which offer a maximum line speed of 431 ft/min (131.4 m/min) and a maximum line pull of 18,450 lbs (8,369 kg). The winches are controlled via electro-proportional joysticks located in the operator’s cab, ensuring precise control over lifting operations. The crane’s hydraulic system is powered by three gear pumps with a combined capacity of 113 GPM (428 LPM), including a pump disconnect feature for enhanced efficiency.

Stability during lifting operations is provided by four fully independent hydraulic outriggers, which can be extended to a maximum width of 26 ft (7.92 m) or retracted for use in confined spaces. The crane’s outrigger system includes sight leveling bubbles and is operated from the cab, ensuring proper leveling and safety during operation.

The operator’s cab is designed for comfort and functionality, featuring a deluxe six-way adjustable seat with mechanical suspension, sound insulation, and environmental controls. The cab is equipped with large windows, including a hinged, tinted skylight, to provide clear visibility of the load during operation. Additionally, the Rated Capacity Indicator (RCI) system monitors the crane’s load capacity in real-time, with visual and audible warnings for overloads and an automatic function disconnect to prevent unsafe operations.

With its powerful engine, advanced hydraulic system, and flexible boom configurations, the Terex RT665 is ideally suited for a wide range of industrial and construction applications requiring heavy lifting in rugged and off-road environments.
