Product Description

Debuting in the mid-1990s, the Potain Topkit MC 265 is a top-slewing tower crane specifically engineered for heavy-duty lifting and high-rise construction. This model exemplifies Potain’s hallmark blend of precision, power, and modular versatility. With a maximum load capacity of 12 tonnes and a maximum jib length of 65 meters, the MC 265 offers a lifting range that adapts well to a variety of jobsite needs. The tip load at maximum reach is approximately 2.66 tonnes, while shorter jib configurations (40 to 60 meters) allow higher tip capacities, up to 5.6 tonnes at 40 meters.

The hoisting system is powered by two different winch configurations depending on the project’s needs. The 55 RCS 30D winch delivers a power output of 55 horsepower (40.5 kW) with hoisting speeds up to 121 m/min and a drum capacity for up to 370 meters of wire rope. The higher-end 70 RCS 30D winch offers 70 horsepower (51 kW) with similar hoisting speeds and increased rope storage for heights up to 461 meters, making it suitable for taller structures.

Slewing operations are handled by the RCV 185 mechanism with a slewing speed of 0.76 rpm powered by two 5.2 kW motors, ensuring precise and fluid rotation of the upper structure. The trolleying system uses the 6 D3 V4 mechanism, capable of reaching speeds of up to 80 m/min, allowing efficient horizontal movement of loads.

This crane also supports climbing configurations for internal building operations, with compatible mast sections such as the 55 RCS 30D (185m max height) and the 70 RCS 30D (230m max height). The standard freestanding height reaches 66.7 meters under hook with a typical base dimension of 6 meters by 6 meters and ballast requirements for stability. The crane can be anchored to a foundation or mounted on a chassis for climbing inside building shafts using telescoping collars.

Electrically powered, the MC 265 operates on a 400V, 50Hz network, with power requirements of 80 kVA (55 RCS) or 105 kVA (70 RCS), adhering to CEI 38 and IEC 38 standards. It is also compatible with jobsite generator sets if mains power is unavailable.

Introduced during an era of transition toward more modular and efficient crane systems, the Potain MC 265 remains a reference point in its class for reliability, performance, and adaptability in vertical construction.
