Mammoet maintains Whitla Wind 1

Mammoet Maintains Whitla Wind 1

Mammoet utilised its CC2400 crawler crane to replace a 38-tonne tonne gearbox at the Whitla Wind 1 wind farm in Southern Alberta, Canada.

High winds and sub-zero temperatures made the work a challenge, said Mammoet. Nevertheless, from the time Vestas awarded Mammoet the project it took the teams just two weeks to complete. The lift itself took a day and a half.

The Whitla Wind 1 project is comprised of 56 turbines, each with a hub height of 105 m and blade rotor diameter 136 m.
