Product Description

The Demag AC 650 is one of the heaviest lifting all-terrain cranes developed by Demag during its production era, specifically built for tasks that demand extreme capacity and boom reach. With a maximum lifting capacity of 650 tonnes at a 3-meter radius, the crane integrates a 7-axle carrier chassis to provide both transport efficiency and jobsite maneuverability. Its carrier includes steerable axles to minimize turning radius and enhance site access even under challenging conditions.

The crane features a 60-meter five-section telescopic boom made from high-tensile steel, offering immense structural strength and minimal deflection under load. To increase operational reach, it can be equipped with a luffing fly jib system extending up to 96 meters, enabling a maximum system length of 156 meters. This makes the AC 650 highly suitable for lifting heavy loads at great heights or extended radii, such as in petrochemical plant construction or wind turbine erection.

Power is provided by a Mercedes-Benz OM 502 LA engine on the carrier, delivering 405 kW (551 hp), while the crane superstructure is driven by a Mercedes-Benz OM 906 LA engine rated at 205 kW (279 hp). The automatic transmission and drive system allow for a top speed of approximately 75 km/h, aiding in efficient transit between sites.

Operational flexibility is enhanced by the Demag IC-1 control system, providing real-time load monitoring, job planning, and performance optimization. Outrigger systems are hydraulically operated with a wide footprint for excellent stability on uneven terrain.

With a total counterweight of up to 200 tonnes, the crane can be configured for multiple lifting scenarios, balancing between capacity, reach, and mobility. Optional equipment includes a variety of jibs, heavy-lift attachments, and transport accessories, making the AC 650 adaptable for custom lifting challenges.

The Demag AC 650 remains a pinnacle in heavy-duty mobile crane design, offering unmatched lifting strength, modularity, and operational intelligence—ideal for major infrastructure and industrial lifting projects.
