Product Description
The Liebherr LTM 1040/1 is engineered as a flexible and reliable 40-ton class all-terrain crane, ideal for lifting operations in urban and industrial environments. It features a three-section telescopic boom that extends from 9.5 meters to 30 meters under load, using Liebherr’s proven hydraulic technology. Optional folding jibs are available in lengths of 8.1 or 14.5 meters and can be installed at 0°, 15°, or 30°, providing additional reach and flexibility for varying lifting applications.
The crane is powered by a Liebherr D 926 TI-E six-cylinder, water-cooled diesel engine producing 230 kW (312 hp) at 2,100 rpm, with a maximum torque of 1,190 Nm at 1,400 – 1,600 rpm. This engine complies with EURO II emissions standards and powers the crane through a ZF automatic transmission with torque converter and lock-up clutch, offering six forward and two reverse speeds, including off-road and front axle drive modes for enhanced traction and mobility.
The carrier frame is a torsion-resistant welded construction of high-tensile fine-grain steel, supported by a hydropneumatic suspension system with hydraulic locking, ensuring smooth travel and stability even on uneven ground. The 4-point hydraulic outrigger system provides quick and secure setup with horizontal and vertical extension controlled from the operator station.
Crane operations are managed from a fully enclosed cab featuring safety glass, ergonomic controls, and Liebherr’s LICCON overload protection system, which includes load moment indicators and safety valves to prevent hydraulic failures. The hoist winch uses an axial piston motor with built-in planetary reducer and wet disc brake, capable of delivering up to 42 kN of single-line pull at speeds up to 104 m/min. The swing system, driven by a hydraulic motor through a planetary gearbox with spring-loaded brake, provides smooth and precise 360-degree rotation.
Weighing approximately 36 tons in operating condition, the LTM 1040/1 is designed for transport efficiency with options including additional drive axles and wide cabs. Overall, the LTM 1040/1 combines a robust structural frame, advanced hydraulics, and precise control systems, making it an excellent choice for general construction, infrastructure projects, and industrial maintenance work.
