Liebherr LTM 1150-5.1

The Liebherr LTM 1150-5.1 is engineered for versatility and performance in both highway and jobsite conditions, offering a rated capacity of 150 metric tons. Its key feature is a 66-meter (216.5 ft) telescopic boom made from high-tensile steel and consisting of six telescopic sections. These are extended and retracted via the proven Liebherr TELEMATIK single-cylinder system, allowing fully automatic section extension in any sequence and enabling high lifting capacities across all radii.

For additional reach, the crane can be configured with a lattice jib ranging from 7 m to 28 m (23 ft to 92 ft). The jib is mountable at 0°, 20°, or 40° offsets and, combined with the main boom, allows a maximum hoist height of 95 meters (312 feet) and a maximum outreach of 72 meters (236 feet).

Power is provided by a Liebherr six-cylinder turbo diesel engine (270 kW / 367 hp) that meets EU Stage III / EPA Tier 3 emission standards. It drives a 12-speed ZF-AS-Tronic automated gearbox with a transfer case that distributes torque to all axles as required. This powertrain ensures a maximum road speed of 85 km/h (52.8 mph) and excellent gradeability.

The 5-axle carrier features all-wheel steering, where the first, second, fourth, and fifth axles steer, and the third axle is non-steering. Axles one to three are driven, enabling tight turning radii and outstanding maneuverability even in confined spaces. The crane rides on 16.00 R25 tires and includes hydropneumatic suspension with automatic leveling.

The superstructure is powered by a separate Liebherr diesel engine rated at 145 kW (197 hp), allowing for simultaneous crane operation and engine load separation. The LTM 1150-5.1 uses LICCON 2, Liebherr’s advanced control system, which includes a mobile display console, working range limitation, and integrated load charts for all configurations.

Safety and efficiency are enhanced with features like working area limitation, automatic engine throttle control, redundant hydraulic circuits, hoist monitoring systems, and a camera-assisted winch operation display. The operator cab includes adjustable seat, joystick controls, and large panoramic glazing for optimal visibility.
