Key Features & Benefits

The Kobelco 7800 crawler crane is the flagship in Kobelco’s heavy lift series, rated at a massive 800 metric tons (approximately 882 US tons) capacity. This high-capacity crawler crane is equipped with a modular boom system and heavy-duty hoisting performance suited for extreme lifting scenarios, including infrastructure megaprojects and energy sector deployments.

In its standard crane configuration, the main boom extends from 18.28 m up to 115.85 m, offering excellent versatility for tall structure lifts. In luffing jib configuration, it supports a main boom of 55.34 m paired with a 73.15 m luffing jib. The crane’s Heavy Lift (HL) and Super Heavy Lift (SHL) setups increase its lifting power dramatically, with combinations like a 42.67 m main boom and 88.38 m mast for HL, and up to a 121.9 m boom and 54.88 m mast for SHL applications. These configurations enable lifting of massive components at extended radii and heights.

The winch system includes dual main and auxiliary winches capable of operating at speeds of 57 m/min (single line) and a drum pull of 37 tons. The luffing jib winch in the HL and SHL configurations can handle up to 35 m/min at dual-line operation. The crane’s swing speed is 0.6 rpm, and the traveling speed is approximately 0.3 km/h, typical for heavy-duty crawlers.

The hydraulic system operates under a working pressure of up to 35 MPa (357 kg/cm²), supported by four variable-displacement hydraulic pumps, delivering optimal power to hoisting, slewing, and travel circuits simultaneously. The total hydraulic oil capacity is 1,000 liters, with full system filtration for efficiency and durability.

Powering the 7800 is a Cummins QSKTA-19-C800 diesel engine, rated at 441 kW (600 hp) at 2,000 rpm, with a fuel tank capacity of 1,000 liters. This engine complies with emissions and operational standards while delivering the torque necessary for sustained heavy lifting.

The crane structure incorporates large-diameter high-strength wire ropes (32 mm for hoist and boom ropes), 55 t hook block, and robust lattice boom construction to minimize deflection under high loads. The counterweight system consists of a standard 168-ton counterweight, with additional 37 tons available in the optional package, ensuring balance and safety during extreme lifts.

The undercarriage uses 21.00-35-40PR×4 wide crawler shoes for excellent ground contact, supporting the crane’s total weight of over 840 tons in full configuration. The 7800 maintains Kobelco’s signature modular design, allowing the boom, mast, and counterweights to be efficiently transported and assembled on-site.

With decades of engineering evolution, the Kobelco 7800 combines sheer lifting strength, transport optimization, and operational safety, standing at the top tier of global heavy-duty crawler cranes.
