Product Description

The Grove RT58 is a 14 US ton class rough terrain crane engineered for jobsite versatility, mobility, and lifting efficiency. Depending on the configuration, the crane can be equipped with a 2-section boom ranging from 17 to 29 feet, or a 3-section full-power telescopic boom with reach options including 18–42 ft, 21–51 ft, and 24–60 ft. All booms use twin double-acting hydraulic cylinders with integral safety holding valves, allowing precise boom elevation up to 75°. The boom nose is a fixed two-sheave design, compatible with the main hoist system.

To extend reach further, the RT58 can be fitted with jib attachments, including a 14 ft “stowaway” jib for the 18–42 ft boom, a 17 ft “stowaway” for the 21–51 ft boom, or a 20 ft jib for the 24–60 ft boom. The combination of these setups enables flexible lifting for both near and far reaches across compact jobsite environments.

The crane’s main hoist is the Model 40 SECR, equipped with an 8-inch diameter drum and 17.5-inch flange. It delivers a maximum line speed of 290 feet per minute, with a full-load line speed of 125 fpm. Single line pull is rated at 9,000 lbs maximum and 7,200 lbs permissible. The auxiliary hoist shares the same configuration. The rope capacity is 400 feet using a 1/2 in. diameter wire rope.

Swing performance is enabled via a 360° continuous hydraulic motor drive with ball bearing swing circle, external gear, and automatic swing brake. The cab is all steel, fully enclosed, and includes heater, defroster, safety glass, and top-mounted skylight for visibility during lifts. The cab also provides windshield wipers, electric window controls, and ergonomic levers.

The hydraulic system consists of 4 pumps with a total capacity of 128 GPM, and maximum system pressure of 2250 PSI. The RT58 uses four-way double-acting hydraulic valves with integral load checks and relief valves. A 90-gallon reservoir supports the system, which requires 136 gallons of hydraulic fluid.

Mounted on a compact frame, the RT58 uses a 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive Clark powershift transmission with 6 forward and 6 reverse speeds. Steering is full hydraulic, with front wheel control and rear tiller bar for tight maneuvering. Axles are planetary drive with built-in oscillation lockouts. Braking is handled via air-powered, hydraulic four-wheel service brakes, and mechanical spring-applied parking brakes.

The RT58 rides on 17.5×25–14 ply Power Grader tires and can also accommodate 20.5×25–14 ply Earthmover tires. With 17.5 tires, maximum capacity on rubber is limited to 18,000 lbs. Outriggers are hydraulically operated, one at each corner, extending to 12 ft 6 in center-to-center, ensuring excellent lifting stability on varied terrain.

Weighing in at approximately 35,500 lbs with the 60 ft boom and 20 ft jib, the Grove RT58 balances lifting performance, compact mobility, and rugged reliability—making it an ideal choice for utility, infrastructure, and light industrial lifting needs.
