Grove RT58C

The Grove RT58C is an 18-ton capacity rough terrain crane built with performance and adaptability in mind. The crane’s standard boom configuration includes a three-section, full-power telescoping boom measuring from 25 to 60 feet (7.6 to 18.3 meters). Constructed from high-strength steel with full synchronization, it provides excellent reach and lifting power. For extended lift height, a 70 ft (21.2 m) boom is optionally available, supporting a maximum tip height of 76 ft (23.2 m). Both boom options can be paired with swing-away lattice-type jibs—20 ft for the 60 ft boom or 23 ft for the 70 ft version—allowing maximum tip heights of 85 ft (25.9 m) and 98 ft (29.9 m), respectively, with offsets of 0°, 15°, or 30°.

The boom elevation ranges from 0° to 75° via dual double-acting hydraulic cylinders with integral holding valves. The hoisting system includes both main and auxiliary hoists, each with grooved drums, planetary reduction, automatic brakes, and cable followers. The standard hoist provides a maximum single-line pull of 9,640 lbs (4,372 kg) and line speeds of up to 429 ft/min (131 m/min), using 5/8 in (16 mm) wire rope with a rope capacity of 350 ft (106 m) and stowage up to 486 ft (148 m).

At its core, the RT58C is powered by a Cummins BT5.9L turbocharged, 6-cylinder diesel engine producing 125 bhp (93 kW) at 2,800 rpm and a peak torque of 325 ft-lbs (441 Nm) at 1,700 rpm. The power is delivered through a remote-mounted powershift transmission offering 6 forward and 6 reverse speeds across high and low ranges. It achieves a top travel speed of 24 mph (38.0 km/h) with a theoretical gradeability of 96.7%.

The crane’s carrier is constructed from a fully welded steel box frame and integrates four hydraulic cantilever outriggers with square steel float pads. Maximum outrigger pad load is rated at 36,787 lbs (16,687 kg). The RT58C includes full 4×4 drive and steer capability with four selectable steering modes—front, rear, coordinated, and crab steering—supported by fully independent hydraulic control and rear steering indicators.

The operator cab is fully enclosed with a steel structure, fitted with tinted glass, a deluxe adjustable seat, and complete instrumentation for engine, hydraulics, and lifting functions. The swing system uses a ball-bearing swing circle and a Grove planetary drive for 360° continuous rotation at 2.9 rpm, secured by an automatic swing brake and mechanical lock.

Additional standard features include an anti-two-block system, load moment indicator (LMI), backup alarm, fire extinguisher, full lighting, and optional cold-weather and utility packages. These features make the RT58C an efficient and flexible machine, well-suited to utility, construction, and industrial lifting operations demanding solid performance in tight, rugged conditions.
