Grove RT58D

The Grove RT58D is a compact and capable 20-ton class rough terrain crane tailored for industrial, infrastructure, and maintenance work where space is limited but lifting demands remain substantial. It comes standard with a three-section, full-power telescopic boom ranging from 25 to 60 ft (7.6 to 18.3 m), or an optional four-section boom extending up to 70 ft (21.3 m). The maximum tip height reaches 66 ft (20.1 m) or up to 98 ft (29.9 m) when equipped with the optional 20 ft or 23 ft offsettable jib.

This crane is built for strength and simplicity, using a boom constructed from 100,000 psi yield steel, fitted with anti-friction slide pads and a synchronized telescoping system powered by a single double-acting hydraulic cylinder. Boom elevation ranges from -0° to +75° and is actuated by twin hydraulic cylinders with integral holding valves.

The RT58D’s winching system is based on planetary drives with automatic multi-disc brakes, and the main hoist delivers a single-line pull of 9,640 lbs (4,372 kg) with speeds up to 429 ft/min (131 m/min). Both main and auxiliary winches include cable followers and rope level winders.

The carrier uses a high-clearance, box-section frame with four hydraulic outriggers. Each outrigger can be independently extended and is equipped with integral holding valves and steel floats. Steering is fully hydraulic with four selectable modes—2-wheel front, 2-wheel rear, 4-wheel coordinated, and crab—facilitating operation in tight workspaces.

Powered by a Cummins BT5.9L turbocharged diesel engine, the crane produces 125 bhp and 325 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6×6 powershift transmission. The RT58D achieves speeds up to 24 mph (38.6 km/h) and has excellent gradeability and low-end torque for off-road applications.

The cab is ergonomically designed with wide visibility, adjustable operator seat, dual-axis joysticks, and a full suite of gauges. The standard load moment indicator (LMI) and anti-two-block system enhance lifting safety, while options such as work lights, tow winch, block heater, and cold-weather package ensure adaptability across work conditions.
