Product Description

The Kato KR-20 is a rugged and compact 20-ton rough terrain crane developed to provide multipurpose functionality across a variety of lifting tasks. With a fully hydraulic system and a robust 4-section full-power boom extending up to 30.5 meters, it offers impressive reach within its class. An alternative 3-section configuration provides a boom length of 23.5 meters, allowing for tailored lifting configurations depending on operational demands. When combined with a jib, the total lifting height reaches up to 30.8 meters.

The KR-20 is powered by a 140 PS diesel engine, enabling reliable movement across jobsites and sufficient travel speeds to reposition quickly. It is equipped with a high-torque 2-speed transmission and 4WD driveline, making it capable of tackling off-road terrain, inclines, and job sites with limited traction. It boasts excellent mobility with a float-type outrigger system for rapid deployment and stabilization on uneven ground.

Operationally, the crane incorporates Kato’s “Freomatic” dual-drum winch system for efficient and simultaneous lifting operations. The winches are hydraulically powered and provide fine load control, even during synchronized dual-drum lifting. This makes the crane especially effective for tandem or complex lift scenarios.

The cabin is designed with operator comfort and visibility in mind, offering a wide view for safe and accurate lifting. It includes a forward-adjustable driver seat, ergonomic control levers, and a simplified layout for ease of training and operation. The safety system features include automatic braking, boom overhoist prevention, and reliable load control via hydraulic systems.

Kato also emphasized ease of maintenance with a well-laid-out engine compartment and side panels that offer easy access to components. The crane is fitted with a 200-liter fuel tank to support extended operation without frequent refueling, adding to job site productivity.

The KR-20’s versatility is further enhanced with a luffing jib (referred to as a rooster sheave or auxiliary lifting system), and the optional 4-section or 3-section boom configurations provide flexibility for different site conditions. Whether lifting equipment on a tight urban site or maneuvering heavy loads in industrial yards, the KR-20 delivers a balanced blend of lifting capacity, reach, and agility.

Overall, the Kato KR-20/KR-20H is a highly adaptable crane in the 20-ton class, ideal for operators seeking a durable and easy-to-use solution for diverse and challenging lifting environments.
