Product Description

The Kobelco RK160-6 is a versatile and highly maneuverable 16-ton capacity rough terrain crane engineered for efficient lifting operations in tight or urban construction environments. It features a six-section telescopic boom that spans from 6.5 meters to 27.5 meters, made from a box-type structure and extended via a combination of hydraulic and wire rope systems. With its additional 3.8-meter jib, the crane can achieve a maximum lifting height of 32.0 meters.

Lifting performance includes:

  • Main hook capacity of 16,000 kg at 3.0 m radius (6-part line)
  • Jib lifting capacity up to 2,000 kg at 70°
  • Auxiliary sheave rating of 3,200 kg (single line)

The RK160-6 is powered by a Cummins QSB6.7-3C 6-cylinder, turbocharged, water-cooled diesel engine delivering 160 kW (218 PS) at 2,500 rpm and torque of 843 Nm at 1,500 rpm. The transmission is a power shift type with both manual and automatic modes, offering 4 forward and 1 reverse gear, and a transfer system allowing switching between 2WD (4×2) and 4WD (4×4).

It utilizes an H-type or X-type outrigger system, hydraulically deployed with various extension widths ranging from 1.79 m to 5.2 m, supporting stable lifting over a wide range of configurations. The boom extension speed is 21.0 m in 83 seconds, and elevation is achieved in 34 seconds from -9° to 82.5°.

Operational safety is paramount with Kobelco’s integrated suite of systems including:

  • Overload prevention with auto stop
  • Overwind protection
  • Swing area restriction and auto-stop
  • Boom elevation soft-stop
  • Outrigger width detection
  • Automatic leveling indicators

The cab features air conditioning, multi-position seat adjustments, rear-view and winch cameras, and ergonomic controls for operator comfort. The machine is highly road-mobile, reaching speeds up to 49 km/h, with multiple steering modes (2-wheel, 4-wheel coordinated, rear, and crab steering), and a tight turning radius of just 4.8 meters.

Its total vehicle weight is approximately 19,915 kg, with equal axle load distribution and compliance for road travel and lifting under Japan’s strict crane standards. The compact footprint—8.31 m length, 2.2 m width, and 3.15 m height—makes it ideal for urban lifting where space and access are constrained.

Overall, the Kobelco RK160-6 is engineered to deliver exceptional control, safe lifting, and dependable performance across confined and variable terrain applications.
