Tadano TR-400M-1
The Tadano TR-400M-1 is a 40-ton capacity rough terrain crane, engineered with a high-torque diesel engine, 5-section hydraulic boom, and full 4×4 drive for outstanding off-road capability. Ideal for lifting in demanding construction and industrial sites, the TR-400M-1 delivers exceptional mobility, lifting power, and operator-centric design.

Product Description
The Tadano TR-400M-1 brings powerful lifting capabilities and robust off-road performance into a compact rough terrain crane format. With a maximum lifting capacity of 40 metric tons, this crane is built for productivity in difficult terrain and tight work zones, making it a top choice for contractors and heavy industry operators across infrastructure and utility sectors.
The crane’s main boom extends hydraulically across five sections, reaching lengths from 8.9 meters to 33.5 meters, and offers a maximum lifting height of 46.0 meters when paired with a two-stage swing-around jib that extends the range to a full 31.2 meters radius. This gives it excellent versatility to handle a wide range of lifting operations, from steel erection to precast concrete work.
For lifting control, the TR-400M-1 uses dual winch systems, each powered by hydraulic motors and planetary reducers. The main winch delivers a high-speed single line lift at 12.6 m/min with a 10-part-line configuration, while the auxiliary winch matches this output on a single part-line. Hook speeds range up to 165 m/min, providing efficient lifting cycles even under load.
The crane’s boom elevates via two double-acting hydraulic cylinders, providing stable operation across an elevation angle of 0° to 80°. Full 360° swing rotation is driven by a hydraulic motor and planetary gear reducer, supported by a swing brake and lockable changeover mechanism for precise positioning.
Mobility is a key strength of the TR-400M-1. It features a 2-axle 4×4 drive powered by a Nissan PE6T 6-cylinder turbo diesel engine, delivering 280 PS at 2,200 rpm and 110 kg·m of torque. The crane operates with manual 5-speed transmission and torque converter with Hi/Low selector, enabling a maximum road speed of 45 km/h and impressive 0.62 gradeability.
To maintain stability on uneven terrain, the TR-400M-1 is fitted with a fully hydraulic X-type outrigger system. It offers three deployment widths—7.0 m fully extended, 4.4 m middle, and 4.0 m minimum—to adapt to jobsite space limitations. Each jack is independently operable, and the outriggers support a maximum load of 32 tons.
Its rugged frame is box-welded for durability and torsional rigidity, while full-floating axles with no-spin differentials and reverse steering correction boost maneuverability and handling. This is complemented by full hydraulic power steering and three brake systems—service, parking, and auxiliary—for safe road and worksite operation.
The crane is also equipped with extensive safety and control systems, including Tadano’s AML load moment limiter, over-winding prevention, winch drum lock, level gauge, hydraulic and telescopic counterbalance valves, and jack load alarms. Operator comfort and control are supported by a two-man cab, air conditioning (optional), and ergonomic seating with a headrest.
Weighing in at approximately 34.66 tons gross, the TR-400M-1 maintains a compact profile for its lifting class, measuring 11.68 m long, 2.98 m wide, and 3.49 m high. Fuel capacity stands at 300 liters, and the crane uses twin 12V (120Ah) batteries to power its electrical systems.
Overall, the TR-400M-1 is built for reliability, versatility, and endurance. Whether maneuvering over rugged sites or handling high lifts in confined areas, this crane delivers dependable performance with a design that prioritizes both safety and productivity.
