Terex RT 160
The Terex RT 160 Series is a 60-ton (54 metric tonne) class rough terrain crane engineered for heavy-duty lifting in off-road conditions. With a four-section full-power boom and exceptional hoisting capabilities, it’s designed for jobsite versatility and quick deployment, especially where maneuverability and high reach are essential.

Product Description
The Terex RT 160 Series was developed to offer dependable performance across a broad range of lifting applications, combining rugged design with advanced hydraulic systems. The crane is equipped with a synchronized four-section boom that spans from 34 to 115 feet (10.4 to 35 meters), built with high-strength four-plate construction and anti-friction slide pads. The boom is supported by two double-acting hydraulic cylinders and offers a maximum tip height of 122 feet (37.2 meters).
Optional jibs include self-storing lattice types of 38 to 60 feet (11.6 to 18.3 meters), with manual extensions enabling total tip heights of up to 186 feet (56.7 meters). The jib is offsettable at 0°, 17°, or 30° for added flexibility. Both main and auxiliary boom heads feature five non-metallic sheaves for smooth operation.
The crane’s hoisting capabilities are driven by bent-axis piston motors with planetary reduction gearing. The main winch boasts a line speed of 504 ft/min and a permissible line pull of 11,000 lbs per part of line, with a cable storage capacity of up to 554 feet. Both winches support rapid reeving with quick-reeve boom heads.
The RT 160’s carrier chassis is a robust four-wheel drive, four-wheel steer design. The high-strength structure integrates hydraulic jacks and multi-position outriggers that can extend to 7.2 meters. It rides on 29.5×25-28PR rock tread tires and includes both service and parking brakes with air-over-hydraulic and disc brake systems.
Power comes from a Cummins 6CT8.3L six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, producing 215 HP at 2500 RPM and 558 ft-lbs of torque at 1500 RPM. The crane features a six-speed forward and three-speed reverse powershift transmission.
Operator controls are ergonomically laid out with joystick levers, foot pedals, and instrument gauges for vital functions including air pressure, oil temperature, hoist speed, and rated capacity indicators. The cab is all-steel with environmental insulation, sliding doors, skylight, and foam padding for noise and weather resistance.
Hydraulic power is delivered through dual tandem gear-type pumps producing a combined flow of 139 GPM. An integrated filtration system with 10- and 20-micron filters ensures longevity and reliability.
With features like dual swing drive, anti-two block systems, optional cold-weather packages, and multiple steering modes including crab and coordinated steering, the RT 160 Series is tailored for both rugged terrain and precise lifting operations.
