Product Description

The Potain MD 265, introduced as part of Potain’s heavy-duty Topkit range, is a powerful hammerhead tower crane designed to handle the lifting challenges of major construction projects. This model offers a peak lifting capacity of 12 tonnes and features a maximum jib length of 65 meters, with a tip load capacity of 2.5 tonnes. Its geometry and mechanical performance make it well-suited for mid- to high-rise structures and infrastructure works where both reach and lifting muscle are critical.

The crane operates on a 2-meter mast system built from 3.33-meter modular sections, allowing it to reach a freestanding height of up to 69.6 meters depending on the selected base. The available base configurations include the P60A, V60A, and ZD46A—each offering varying load distribution reactions and ballast setups. For example, the V60A base supports a freestanding height of up to 69.6 meters with a base ballast of 86 tonnes, making it a preferred choice for stable tower erection in open sites.

For projects requiring internal climbing, the MD 265 accommodates climbing configurations using standard frames like the B60A or ZD46A, allowing the crane to climb through a building core. With proper anchoring and climbing collars, this crane can extend service heights well beyond 100 meters, with anchor configurations rated up to 171.4 meters (P60A base).

The MD 265 features counter-jib ballast options ranging from 13.3 tonnes at 25 meters jib to 24.5 tonnes at 45 meters, composed of modular 4200 kg and 700 kg blocks. The base ballast weight varies with the height and base type, scaling up to 108 tonnes to maintain stability during high lifting operations.

Two hoisting options are available: the 55 RCS 30D winch with up to 92 meters of rope, and the 70 RCS 30D winch offering up to 115 meters. These winches allow for high hoisting speeds and are tailored to support large-scale, repetitive lifting operations. The slewing mechanism operates with a steady rotation at approximately 0.76 rpm, controlled by dual 4.4 kW motors, ensuring excellent maneuverability even under full load. The trolleying system uses a 5 D3 V4 mechanism with travel speeds of up to 58 m/min.

The MD 265 also features an expansive load curve. For example, it lifts 9 tonnes at 25 meters, 7.2 tonnes at 30 meters, and maintains 4.3 tonnes at 45 meters. Even at maximum radius (65 meters), it can lift 2.5 tonnes, reflecting its well-balanced performance across the entire jib.

Designed in compliance with CE standards (CEI 38, IEC 38), the MD 265 operates on a 400V, 50Hz power network and requires 80 to 105 kVA depending on the winch setup. It can also be operated via generator when needed, making it suitable for remote or developing construction zones.

In all, the Potain MD 265 is a powerful and versatile crane, delivering strength, height, and reach for intensive building projects that demand precision and lifting endurance.
