Product Description
The Grove GMK7550 is the flagship model in Grove’s all-terrain crane lineup, delivering an extraordinary 550-ton (500 metric ton) lifting capacity. Designed for demanding heavy lift applications such as industrial plant maintenance, bridge construction, and wind energy installations, this crane blends immense power with advanced hydraulic and transport technology.
At the core of the GMK7550’s lifting system is its 60-meter (197-foot) main boom, constructed using Grove’s Twin-Lock™ boom pinning system for strength and weight optimization. When paired with a 79-meter luffing jib, the crane achieves an impressive maximum tip height of 136 meters (446 feet). The optional MegaWingLift™ system enhances the lifting chart, particularly for long boom and heavy counterweight configurations, improving lifting capacity by up to 50% in certain conditions.
Mobility is a key strength, with the crane built on a seven-axle carrier (GMK designation). It features an all-wheel steer system with selectable modes to navigate tight jobsites. The carrier is powered by a 530 kW (715 hp) Mercedes-Benz engine, while the upperworks has its own Mercedes OM 904 LA engine rated at 90 kW (121 hp). This dual-engine setup ensures both travel and crane operations are independently optimized.
For travel and deployment, the GMK7550 is designed with modular counterweights and removable boom sections, facilitating transportation within standard road regulations. It can travel at speeds up to 80 km/h (50 mph) and be configured for rapid assembly and disassembly at site locations.
Advanced electronic systems such as the ECOS (Electronic Crane Operating System) provide intelligent load monitoring, function interlocks, and diagnostics. Operator comfort is ensured with air-conditioned cabs, ergonomic controls, and excellent visibility from both upper and lower stations.
In conclusion, the Grove GMK7550 stands out for its massive capacity, exceptional reach, and high adaptability, making it a go-to solution for high-stakes lifts requiring both brute strength and technical finesse. It remains a preferred choice in sectors demanding heavy-duty crane performance with the flexibility of all-terrain mobility.
