Liebherr LTM 1160 NX

The Liebherr LTM 1160NX is a high-performance all terrain crane designed to meet the rigorous operational and regulatory requirements of the Japanese market. It boasts a maximum lifting capacity of 160 tons and is equipped with a powerful and fuel-efficient Liebherr diesel engine that delivers exceptional torque for both travel and lifting operations. The crane rides on an 8-axle carrier fitted with 16 wheels and 385/95 R25 tires, ensuring excellent load distribution and maneuverability, even in tight urban environments. The drivetrain and steering systems allow for a minimum turning radius of just 12.7 meters, making it well-suited for confined job sites.

The crane is powered by a robust 8-cylinder Liebherr diesel engine producing 505 kW (686 hp) and 3068 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a ZF-manufactured TRAXON transmission system with 12 forward and 2 reverse gears, complemented by an eco-mode to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. This allows the LTM 1160NX to achieve highway speeds up to 80 km/h while maintaining off-road readiness with a 23.7° gradeability under low-speed gear engagement.

One of the standout features of the LTM 1160NX is its telescopic boom system. The main boom spans from 13.2 meters to 66 meters, with six telescoping sections. An optional swing-away jib, extending from 10.8 to 33 meters, offers a maximum tip height of 93.7 meters, making it capable of reaching significant elevations for steel erection or tower crane assembly. Boom extension and retraction are facilitated through a single-cylinder TELEMATIK system, allowing quick and smooth transition during lifting operations.

The crane is supported by a high-capacity LICCON II control system, which incorporates features such as working area limiter, angle and radius indicators, and safety interlocks. A variety of hooks and sheave configurations are available depending on operational needs, with up to 239.1-ton capacity using 11 sheaves. VarioBase and VarioBallast systems provide flexibility in load stabilization and counterweight distribution, essential for uneven terrain or space-limited sites.

Safety and ease of operation are further enhanced by features such as automatic engine preheat, eco mode engine management, rear-view camera systems, and optional automated rigging for transport-to-lift setup. The operator’s cab is ergonomically designed with panoramic visibility, integrated touchscreen displays, air conditioning, and user-friendly control levers.
