Liebherr LTM 1400

The Liebherr LTM 1400 is a high-capacity, 400-ton class all terrain crane engineered for versatility and heavy-duty lifting. Built on a robust 8-axle carrier, this model is a standout in the upper medium-capacity class, offering mobility, strength, and reach. The carrier features a torsion-resistant box-type frame, equipped with four hydraulic sliding beams for the outriggers, including front and rear support pad jacks for leveling and stability during operation.

Powering the carrier is a Liebherr D 9408 TI-E, 8-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 420 kW (570 HP) at 2100 rpm and up to 2332 Nm of torque. The transmission system consists of an Allison CLBT 755 automatic gearbox with torque converter, offering 5 forward speeds and 1 reverse. A dynamic retarder brake and splitter gearbox with off-road range capabilities make the crane well-suited for challenging terrains. All eight axles are sprung, with axles 1 to 4 and 7 to 8 steered for excellent maneuverability, while axles 1, 2, 5, and 6 include planetary reduction gears with differential locks for added traction.

The LTM 1400’s superstructure houses a powerful Liebherr 6-cylinder engine, the D 926 TI-E, producing 240 kW (326 HP) at 1800 rpm. The crane operates using a diesel-hydraulic drive system with five axial piston pumps and servo controls, allowing for simultaneous and efficient crane operations. The telescopic boom spans from 15.7 meters to 50 meters, with three hydraulic extensions offering smooth and synchronized deployment under load. It can be paired with optional lattice fly jibs measuring 61 + 7 meters or luffing lattice jibs up to 84 meters, giving the crane an extensive reach for high-rise projects and long-span lifts.

The LTM 1400’s slewing is powered by a planetary gear system with a spring-loaded brake, while the luffing gear uses twin double-acting hydraulic cylinders with integrated safety locking valves. Operator comfort and visibility are optimized through a fully glazed, all-steel cab that can swing to the rear for transport. The cab features cross-control joysticks, ergonomic layout, and full instrumentation for crane monitoring and control.

Safety systems include an electronic load-moment limiter, hoist limit switches, and protective valves for the hydraulic system. The LTM 1400 is also equipped with dual hoisting gears for two-hook or luffing jib operations, further enhancing lifting flexibility.
