Tadano ATF90G-4

The Tadano ATF 90G-4 exemplifies modern engineering in the 90-ton all-terrain crane category. The crane is built on a torsion-resistant, high-strength steel frame and features a four-axle drive configuration, optionally extendable to an 8-wheel drive setup. The carrier integrates a Mercedes-Benz OM 501 LA six-cylinder diesel engine rated at 320 kW (435 HP) with a torque output of 2100 Nm. It complies with EuroMot III B / EPA Tier 4i emission standards and includes a 400-liter fuel tank and 40-liter AdBlue tank for emission control.

Power is transmitted via a ZF-AS-Tronic 12 AS 2302 automatic gearbox with 12 forward and 2 reverse speeds, supported by a two-stage transfer case for optimal torque distribution. All four axles are driven, with three of them steerable and equipped with transverse and longitudinal differential locks to optimize off-road and on-road mobility. The hydro-pneumatic suspension system with levelling adjustment enhances ride comfort and load stability.

The ATF 90G-4 boasts a 51.2-meter, 6-section telescopic boom made of high-tensile fine-grain steel, extended by a single hydraulic cylinder under load. The boom design includes a single base and five telescoping sections, offering high lateral stiffness and smooth extension performance. A 16-meter swing-away jib is available with offset angles of 0°, 20°, and 40°, increasing flexibility for varied lifting scenarios.

Its superstructure is powered by a separate 4-cylinder Mercedes-Benz OM 924 LA diesel engine producing 127 kW (173 HP), allowing for efficient crane operations independent of the carrier engine. The hydraulic system is a three-circuit configuration with dual axial piston pumps, dedicated gear pumps, and integrated oil cooling.

The crane’s advanced controls feature two electronic joystick levers connected to Tadano’s proprietary control system, which manages hoisting, slewing, derricking, and extension operations. The main winch employs axial piston motors with integrated planetary reducers and spring-loaded multi-disc brakes, using ‘Super-Stop’ reeving for quick and precise control.

The cab design promotes operator safety and comfort with full visibility, tiltable cockpits, cushioned adjustable seats, integrated heating and air conditioning, and ergonomic control placement. Additional safety systems include a load moment limiter (LMI), boom and winch limit switches, overload protection, and emergency hydraulic cut-off features.

Counterweight configurations up to 18.5 tonnes can be mounted or removed hydraulically. Optional attachments include lift adjusters, heavy-duty jibs, additional counterweights, and hook blocks to customize the crane for specific job demands.
