Product Description
The Link-Belt HTC-825S was developed as a 25-ton (22.68 metric ton) capacity truck crane aimed at offering reliable, cost-effective lifting in a range of jobsite conditions. The crane features a three-section boom measuring from 28 feet 9 inches to 70 feet 3 inches (8.76 m to 21.41 m), built using Link-Belt’s patented rectangular boom design with diamond-shaped impressed side plates. These are fabricated from high-tensile 100,000 psi (689.5 MPa) steel and offset-welded for maximum strength and weight efficiency. The boom is guided with wear shoes for both vertical and horizontal stability and can be elevated from -3° to 80° using a hydraulic lift cylinder with integral holding valve.
The standard boom head features four 10-5/8″ (0.27 m) root diameter sheaves that handle up to eight parts of 9/16″ (14 mm) wire rope, with removable rope guards and load lugs. Optional 12-5/8″ (0.32 m) sheaves are available for European lifting codes, and an optional auxiliary lifting sheave can be installed for one or two-part reeving without affecting the main hoist. For extended reach, an optional 24′ (7.32 m) stowable lattice-type fly is available.
Swinging is handled by a bi-directional hydraulic swing motor coupled to a planetary gear reducer, delivering smooth 360° rotation at 3.0 rpm. A mechanically applied spring-release disc brake is mounted to the speed reducer, and foot-operated swing braking is also optional. The swing lock uses a standard 360° pin-type controlled from the cab for secure travel and operation modes. A bolted counterweight on the upperstructure provides necessary stability.
The hydraulic system is powered by a three-section gear-type pump with a combined flow of 133 gpm (503.4 L/min), producing up to 2,900 psi (200 bar). It uses a jaw-type clutch for pump engagement and disengagement and includes a 110-gallon (416 L) reservoir and a six-micron filter for fluid cleanliness. Five separate control valves allow simultaneous multi-function crane operation.
The load hoist system includes a standard Model 1M main winch with a single-speed motor and automatic brake, driven by a bi-directional gear-type hydraulic motor. Options include a two-speed Model 2M winch and a Model 1M auxiliary winch for rear operation. Maximum line pull is 9,900 lbs (4,491 kg), and the winch achieves a top line speed of 416 fpm (126.80 m/min) on a 12-inch (0.30 m) drum.
Mounted on a Link-Belt 8-foot-wide (2.44 m) carrier frame with a 216-inch (5.49 m) wheelbase, the HTC-825S offers a robust structure with integral 100,000 psi (689.5 MPa) outrigger boxes. Standard 6×4 drive is complemented by an optional 6×6 version, with axle choices including an Eaton single front axle and a tandem rear axle with 6.14:1 differential. Suspension includes spring type at the front and solid mount bogie beam at the rear. Wheels are cast six-spoke and tires range from 15.00 x 22.5 (transport type) to optional radials.
Braking is provided by full air brakes with spring-actuated parking and emergency systems. Steering uses Sheppard rack-and-pinion with a 50-foot (15.42 m) turning radius. The standard transmission is a Fuller Roadranger RT-6613, 13-speed with 3 reverse gears, or optionally an Allison MT-653DR 5-speed automatic with lock-up converter.
The carrier cab is a one-man setup with full vinyl insulation, sliding LH/RH windows, and a full instrument panel including speedometer, tachometer, voltmeter, temperature gauges, and warning buzzers. Comfort and safety features include defroster, heater, windshield wiper, seatbelt, cigar lighter, and dome lights. Optional equipment enhances utility with engine block heaters, diesel heaters, rotating beacons, load moment indicators, and hook blocks.
With its balanced design, solid performance capabilities, and ease of road travel, the Link-Belt HTC-825S remains a dependable option in the 25-ton truck crane class.
