Sany STC1300S, 130 ton hydraulic truck crane with 65.6m main boom

Key Features & Benefits

The SANY STC1300S was introduced as part of SANY’s modern truck crane series focused on combining highway mobility with heavy lifting capability. The crane was promoted for its “longer and wider reach,” utilizing a seven-section telescopic boom capable of handling a broad range of construction and industrial lifting tasks. According to SANY, the crane was designed to improve lifting performance while maintaining compact travel dimensions and efficient transportation between worksites.

The crane is mounted on a five-axle truck carrier with overall dimensions of 14,542 mm in length, 3,000 mm in width, and 4,000 mm in height. Gross vehicle weight is approximately 54,990 kg. The carrier employs a 10×6×8 drive and steering arrangement, with axles 3, 4, and 5 providing drive power while axles 1, 2, 4, and 5 are steered. Supplemental steering is provided on axles 4 and 5 at speeds below 45 km/h to improve maneuverability in confined jobsites. Differential locks are fitted to axles 3, 4, and 5 to improve traction on rough terrain.

Power for the carrier is provided by a Weichai WP12.460E50 inline six-cylinder diesel engine producing 338 kW at 1,900 rpm with maximum torque of 2,150 Nm between 1,000 and 1,400 rpm. The engine complies with China V emission standards and is paired with a FAST 12-speed transmission featuring 12 forward and 2 reverse gears. SANY stated fuel consumption at approximately 55 liters per 100 km during highway travel.

The STC1300S achieves a maximum road speed of 85 km/h and gradeability of 45%, allowing efficient long-distance relocation between projects. Minimum steering radius is less than 10 meters, while the minimum boom tip turning radius is below 13 meters, improving accessibility in urban and industrial environments.

The superstructure is powered by a separate Weichai WP6G240E330 inline six-cylinder diesel engine developing 176 kW at 2,300 rpm with maximum torque of 860 Nm between 1,200 and 1,700 rpm. This engine complies with China III emission standards and drives the hydraulic system through an electronically controlled variable displacement piston pump system intended to improve energy efficiency and operational smoothness.

The crane’s telescopic boom consists of seven sections with a maximum boom length of 65.6 m and a basic boom length of 12.5 m. The boom uses a single-cylinder telescoping system with a double pin-lock mechanism designed to reduce vibration and improve reliability during extension and retraction operations. Maximum lifting height with the fully extended boom reaches 66 m, while the addition of the jib increases lifting height to approximately 100 m.

The jib system is available in multiple lengths including 9.5 m, 15.5 m, 21.5 m, and 27.5 m sections with offset angles of 0°, 15°, and 30°. This flexibility allows the crane to adapt to high-rise work, industrial plant erection, and bridge construction applications where extended reach is required.

Maximum rated lifting capacity is 130 tonnes at a 3 m radius, while the crane develops a maximum lifting moment of 4,920 kN·m on the basic boom and 2,400 kN·m on the fully extended boom. The outrigger system provides a maximum support base of 7.8 m transversely and 8.0 m longitudinally using a K-type two-section hydraulic outrigger arrangement fabricated from high-strength steel. Automatic leveling functionality is incorporated to improve setup speed and operational safety.

The counterweight system uses a maximum movable counterweight of 42 tonnes with five different combinations including 1.5 t, 12 t, 24 t, 35.5 t, and 42 t configurations. One of the notable features of the crane is its ability to travel short distances carrying a 12-ton counterweight package while remaining within axle load limits suitable for many road regulations. Additional counterweights can be transported using a single support trailer.

The hydraulic lifting system incorporates normally closed winch brakes and balance valves to prevent uncontrolled lowering of loads. Main and auxiliary winches each achieve maximum single-line rope speeds of 135 m/min. Full boom extension and retraction require approximately 570 seconds, while boom luffing times are 60 seconds up and 150 seconds down. Maximum slewing speed reaches 1.8 rpm with full 360-degree continuous rotation capability.

The operator’s cab was independently developed by SANY and includes a panoramic skylight, adjustable suspension seat, HVAC system, electric wiper, ergonomic controls, and a full monitoring display integrated with the load moment indicator system. The carrier cab similarly incorporates pneumatic suspension seating, climate control, sleeper berth, stereo system, and wide-angle mirrors to improve long-distance driving comfort.

Safety systems on the STC1300S include a load moment indicator calibrated within 5% rated load accuracy, relief valves, rope overhoist protection, height limit switches, winch monitoring systems, pressure sensors, and a comprehensive onboard self-diagnosis system. The crane also features BUS-based electronic control architecture for monitoring engine, hydraulic, transmission, and operational parameters in real time.

The STC1300S represented SANY’s approach toward combining large lifting capacity with efficient road transport, making it suitable for contractors requiring a versatile heavy truck crane capable of both regional mobility and demanding lifting operations.
