Product Description

The Terex AT 40 is a powerful pick-and-carry crane that delivers top-tier lifting performance with remarkable maneuverability, designed for operations demanding flexibility and load movement across job sites. Unveiled in a preliminary technical release in 2016, the AT 40 features a maximum lifting capacity of 40 tonnes at a 1.2-meter radius when using its fixed lug, and up to 30 tonnes via its winch hook block. The crane’s boom is a four-section design, fully powered for extension, providing a maximum boom length of 19.8 meters and a maximum hook height of 19.0 meters. With an articulation range of 40 degrees to either side, the crane maintains agility in tight site conditions.

The AT 40 runs on a Mercedes OM 906 engine (EuroMot 3A compliant) delivering 205 kW of power and 1100 Nm of torque, mated to an Allison six-speed transmission and ZF transfer case. An optional EuroMot 4 (Tier 4F) engine is also available. Its advanced load-sensing hydraulic system with a 95 cc/rev axial piston pump supports a peak flow of 210 l/min and a working pressure of 350 bar. For control and diagnostics, the crane incorporates a dynamic LMI system that automatically derates capacity based on articulation and slope, with integrated service logging and diagnostics.

Mounted on a triple-axle chassis with Kessler axles (two driven), the crane uses hydro-pneumatic suspension with selectable drive and suspension modes. The third axle can be lifted in crane mode, reducing the turning circle to 8.2 meters for improved mobility. The front axle also features 2WD/4WD capability, and on-highway performance allows travel speeds up to 75 kph. Safety and operator comfort are enhanced through disc brakes on all axles, automatic greasing, ducted air conditioning, GPS, MP3 player with Bluetooth, and dual rear-view cameras.

In terms of versatility, the AT 40 supports single-line lifting of up to 4.4 tonnes and a 7-part hook block for heavier loads. The hydraulic tank capacity stands at 470 liters, matching the fuel tank for extended work cycles. The chassis supports tandem operation of the rear axles on the road, while air-operated disc brakes and a turning circle of just 9 meters (on highway) give it solid road-handling characteristics.
