Product Description
The Kato KR-45H-V, or SS-500, is a powerful and compact 45-ton rough terrain crane engineered with a focus on both road mobility and on-site operational performance. It incorporates Kato’s Hydro-Pneumatic Super Suspension, which enhances travel comfort and driving stability over uneven surfaces while maintaining lifting reliability on construction sites.
The crane rides on a 4×2/4×4 selectable drivetrain supported by a 2-axle full steering chassis. This flexible steering setup allows the operator to switch between 2-wheel and 4-wheel steer depending on the terrain and maneuvering requirements. The minimum turning radius with 4-wheel steer is as tight as 6.2 meters, ensuring exceptional agility in confined areas.
At its core, the KR-45H-V is powered by a Mitsubishi 6D22TC turbocharged diesel engine, delivering 270 PS at 2,400 rpm and 108 kgf·m of torque at 1,400 rpm. It pairs with a 5-speed manual transmission with 2 reverse gears and high/low range selector for optimized travel speeds, reaching up to 49 km/h on roads. Fuel capacity is 300 liters, ensuring extended operation between refueling intervals.
Outrigger deployment is fully hydraulic and independently operated, with a maximum spread of 6,400 mm for stable lifting. With the boom stowed, the crane maintains a transport width of 2,490 mm and height of 3,300 mm, while its overall length including boom is 12,650 mm. The gross vehicle weight totals 26,610 kg.
The KR-45H-V’s compact size, high maneuverability, and highway-legal transport configuration make it ideal for infrastructure work in urban settings, industrial plants, and other restricted environments. It’s designed to deliver the lifting capacity of larger cranes while maintaining a footprint and flexibility suitable for modern, space-conscious job sites.
