Link-Belt RTC-8060

The Link-Belt RTC-8060 rough terrain crane is purpose-built to deliver strength, mobility, and smooth operation in challenging job site conditions. With a maximum lifting capacity of 60 USt (54.4 metric tons), the crane features a full-power, four-section boom extending from 35 to 105 feet (10.82 – 32.00 meters). Each section is formed from high-strength steel with diamond-shaped impressions for added stiffness, and the boom is supported by top, bottom, and side wear pads with integrated boom guides.

The crane includes a stowable two-piece fly jib: a 34 to 56-foot (10.36 – 17.07 m) bi-fold design, hydraulically offsettable to 0°, 15°, 30°, or 45°, with an optional 1.5-foot (0.46 m) lattice fly insert. This setup allows the crane to achieve a maximum tip height of 162 feet (49.4 meters), extending its capability for long-reach lifts without compromising structural integrity.

Powering the RTC-8060 is a Cummins QSC 8.3L, 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, delivering 275 hp (205 kW) at 2,200 rpm and peak torque of 728 lb-ft (987 Nm) at 1,500 rpm. The engine features an electronic control package and water/fuel separator and is paired with a Clark 3-speed transmission offering six forward and two reverse speeds. The drivetrain supports both 4×2 and 4×4 drive options with front axle disconnect, enhancing traction and maneuverability on difficult terrain.

The main hydraulic system uses a three-section, gear-type pump with a rated capacity of 142 gpm (537 lpm) and a maximum system pressure of 3,000 psi (207 bar). A two-section gear-type swing/outrigger pump (29 gpm) enables simultaneous crane functions, supported by a 170-gallon (643.5-liter) reservoir. Winch systems are powered via a dual planetary gear reducer, with the main winch line pull rated at 10,000 lb (4,536 kg) and line speed up to 447 fpm (136 m/min) using 3/4-inch (19 mm) wire rope. An optional auxiliary winch mirrors this performance for dual-line operations.

The operator cab is designed for comfort and visibility, with a full-view front window, sliding side windows, and top hatch. Inside, operators benefit from an adjustable seat, load moment indicators, ergonomic hydraulic levers, air conditioning, heater, and integrated lighting. The cab is mounted on an isolated platform to reduce vibration and noise, and the system includes a full-rated capacity limiter with preset alarms, data logging, and anti-two-block control.

The RTC-8060 rides on 29.5 x 25–28 PR earthmover tires with a maximum speed of 20.3 mph (32.67 km/h). Suspension includes a rigid front axle and rear-mounted bronze bushings. The rear axle oscillates up to 9.5° and includes a lockout cylinder to stabilize the crane during lifts. Steering modes include front-wheel, four-wheel, and crab steering, all electronically selectable. Outriggers are hydraulically telescoping with jack cylinders, with beams capable of three-position deployment (fully extended, intermediate, or fully retracted).

With a strong frame design rated at 100,000 psi (689.5 MPa) yield strength and maximum traction force exceeding 66,864 lb (30,333 kg), the Link-Belt RTC-8060 excels in demanding environments such as construction, utility maintenance, and industrial lifting. It combines dependable lifting power, operator-centric design, and off-road agility into a compact and powerful machine.
