Product Description

The Tadano TR-500M-2 made its mark as a high-performance 45-ton (50 US ton) rough terrain crane, engineered to balance lifting capacity, boom reach, and operational versatility. At its core is a six-section hexagonal box boom that hydraulically extends from 9.7 to 41.2 meters, offering remarkable lifting capabilities such as 45,000 kg at 3.5 meters (using 11-part line) and 8,000 kg at 9.0 meters (4-part line). The crane also supports a 31.5-meter boom extension and two jib lengths—7.8m and 12.5m—offering a max height of 54.6 meters with the jib installed.

Its hydraulic system includes 2 variable piston and 2 gear pumps, feeding twin winches with a line speed of up to 124 m/min at the 5th layer. The rope size for the main winch is 18mm x 224m, and 10mm x 122m for the auxiliary. Boom elevation is smoothly handled via double-acting cylinders offering an operating range of 0° to 83°, while swing operations benefit from a planetary gear reducer delivering a swing speed of 2.3 rpm.

The crane rides on a rugged carrier built with a welded box-shaped structure. It is powered by a 6-cylinder Nissan PF6T engine generating 290 PS (about 286 hp) at 2,100 rpm, with a maximum torque of 1,224 Nm at 1,200 rpm. The drivetrain offers both 2WD and 4WD with high/low gear selection, a torque converter, and 3 forward + 1 reverse speed transmission.

Outrigger deployment is handled by a fully hydraulic H-type system with multiple width settings—from 7.25m fully extended down to 2.57m for tight setups. It carries a 39.2-ton maximum outrigger load and a comprehensive set of safety devices, including AML (Automatic Moment Limiter), over-wind protection, elevation and swing locks, and a centralized oiling system.

Cabin comfort and safety are enhanced by a two-man rubber-mounted cab, equipped with adjustable seats, emergency steering, monitor TV for blind-side assistance, and a host of visibility and safety alerts. The TR-500M-2 is designed for ease of transport and setup, offering a minimum turning radius of 6.3m with 4-wheel steering and a road speed of up to 45 km/h. This crane delivers both the reach and muscle required for mid-sized infrastructure, industrial, and construction applications.
