Zoomlion ZRT600, 60 ton Rough Terrain Crane

Key Features & Benefits

The Zoomlion ZRT600 was introduced as a modern rough terrain crane focused on improving lifting efficiency, operational reliability, and off-road performance within the 60-ton capacity segment. The crane was designed primarily for refinery maintenance, oil and gas projects, industrial construction, infrastructure development, and heavy lifting operations in confined or undeveloped environments where crawler cranes or truck cranes may be less practical.

One of the crane’s defining features is its five-section telescopic main boom manufactured from high-strength steel using a U-shaped boom profile for improved rigidity and reduced structural weight. The boom extends hydraulically from 11.5 meters to 45 meters and is operated through synchronized telescoping systems designed for smooth and efficient extension and retraction. Boom elevation ranges from -2° to 75°, allowing the crane to perform both low-angle heavy lifts and high-angle lifting operations. Full boom extension requires approximately 95 seconds while boom raising and lowering operations take around 45 and 110 seconds respectively.

For applications requiring additional lifting height and outreach, the crane can be equipped with a two-section lattice swing-away jib. The jib length ranges from 9.5 meters to 16 meters and supports offset positions of 0°, 15°, and 30°. With the jib installed, the crane achieves a maximum lifting height of approximately 61.8 meters, while maximum lifting height on the main boom alone reaches approximately 46.8 meters. The jib can be side-stowed alongside the main boom during transport and rapidly installed on site.

The ZRT600 has a maximum rated lifting capacity of 60 tonnes at a 2.5-meter working radius and develops a maximum lifting moment of approximately 195 tonne-meters. Even with the boom fully extended, the crane maintains a lifting moment of around 73 tonne-meters. Lifting charts provided in the specification manual show the crane operating with fully extended outriggers, partially extended outriggers, fully retracted outriggers, and on-tire lifting configurations, giving operators flexibility in restricted jobsites where full outrigger deployment may not be possible.

The hoisting system uses independent hydraulic main and auxiliary winches mounted on the upper structure. Both winches are driven through variable displacement hydraulic motors and planetary reduction gearboxes for smooth load handling and precise control. Maximum single-line rope speed reaches approximately 130 meters per minute while maximum line pull is rated at approximately 5,500 kg. The main winch stores approximately 170 meters of wire rope while the auxiliary winch carries around 110 meters. Hook equipment includes a 60-ton six-sheave main hook block and a 5.5-ton auxiliary hook.

Power for the crane is supplied by a Cummins QSB6.7 turbocharged six-cylinder diesel engine producing approximately 194 kW with torque output around 990 Nm. Depending on market configuration, the engine complies with EPA Tier 3 or Euro III emission standards. Power is transmitted through a DANA powershift transmission offering six forward and three reverse speeds. The crane achieves maximum travel speeds of approximately 40 km/h and gradeability of up to 75%, giving it excellent off-road capability and mobility on steep or uneven terrain.

The carrier chassis uses a compact two-axle rough terrain configuration with both axles driven and steered. Steering modes include front-wheel steering, rear-wheel steering, coordinated four-wheel steering, and crab steering, significantly improving maneuverability in confined workspaces and industrial facilities. The crane is equipped with large off-road tires sized 26.5-25-32PR and utilizes hydraulic power steering with orbital steering control. Wheelbase is approximately 3.8 meters while minimum turning radius is about 7.8 meters.

The outrigger system consists of hydraulically controlled H-type outriggers with both horizontal and vertical hydraulic cylinders. Outriggers can be operated simultaneously or independently and support fully extended, intermediate, and fully retracted working positions. Maximum outrigger spread reaches approximately 7.4 meters longitudinally and 5.2 meters laterally. Hydraulic locking devices integrated into the outrigger cylinders improve operational safety and stability during lifting operations.

The hydraulic system utilizes variable displacement piston pumps supplying boom telescoping, hoisting, and luffing functions, while separate gear pumps power steering, outriggers, braking systems, and auxiliary hydraulic circuits. Hydraulic oil capacity is approximately 650 liters. The slewing mechanism uses a hydraulic motor driving a planetary reduction gearbox connected to a slewing ring bearing, delivering continuously variable slewing speeds from 0 to 2.6 rpm.

Operator comfort and safety were major considerations in the crane’s design. The spacious side-mounted cab features wide visibility, adjustable operator seating, air conditioning, ergonomic pilot-operated controls, and integrated monitoring systems. Safety equipment includes a load moment indicator, anti-two-block system, emergency stop buttons, hydraulic safety valves, slewing lock devices, and boom angle monitoring systems. The crane also includes onboard diagnostics and real-time operating information displayed through the electronic control system.
