Tadano GTC-1600
Tadano Mantis showcased its latest innovation, the GTC-1600 Telescopic Crawler, with a robust capacity of 160 US tons (145 tonnes) during the ConExpo 2020 trade show.
The GTC-1600 revolutionizes telescopic boom crawlers by delivering longer, smarter, and stronger capabilities than ever before. Its longer extension is provided by a six-section 200.1 ft boom, the longest in the under-250 USt teleboom crawler class. Smarter processes and parts include self-erecting counterweights, two-stage car body jacks with remote control, and tool-free track frame removal and handling; these all streamline the time from truck to task for greater efficiency and cost savings. The GTC-1600 delivers stronger too, utilizing market-leading load charts for slopes up to 4º degrees. The patented OPTI-WIDTH™ system always provides the maximum available lifting capacity in all working conditions.

Product Description
The Tadano Group has introduced the new GTC-1600, a tele-boom crawler crane with a lifting capacity of 160 U.S. tons. Featuring a six-section boom extending from 42.8 feet to an impressive 200.1 feet, it boasts the longest boom in the sub-250 U.S. ton class of tele-boom crawlers. The single-cylinder telescoping and pinning system automates the extension and retraction of all boom sections, which can be securely locked in chosen working positions.
Supplementing the boom is a bi-fold jib spanning 33.8 feet to 59.1 feet with offsets of up to 40 degrees. The inclusion of optional lattice inserts allows for a jib length of up to 105 feet, achieving a maximum tip height of 305 feet. Additionally, a specialized 11.8-foot heavy-lift jib with 20-degree and 40-degree offsets is available, catering to tilt-up work in confined spaces.
The GTC-1600 features the OPTI-WIDTH flexible track position system, facilitating both symmetrical and asymmetrical track width setups without the need for fixed pinning of the track frames. Its hydraulic system supports multi-function operation, allowing simultaneous travel, hoisting, and boom telescoping.
Designed for various construction and specialty lift applications, the crane enhances the GTC product line to include seven models. Notably, the GTC-1600’s self-erecting counterweight system, coupled with remote control and integrated two-stage carbody jacks, eliminates the need for an assist crane during setup. The crane’s base weight is below 96,000 pounds, enabling transportation to and from job sites on a single low-bed truck, with additional crane components transported on up to four standard trucks.
Operator control is streamlined through a comprehensive system and interface, presented on a single full-color display. Safety features include on-screen warnings, operator-definable working zones with an end-of-zone soft-stop function, and automatic switching for out-of-level load charts on slopes up to four degrees. Control settings are customizable based on operator preferences.
The GTC-1600 is powered by a dual-certified US EPA Tier 4F/Euromot Stage V Cummins B6.7 diesel engine, delivering 326 hp at 2,200 RPM and maximum engine torque of 1,014 pounds per foot @ 1,500 RPM. Multiple throttle control modes provide operational flexibility, and the travel system includes two-speed track drives with maximum speeds of 1.5 mph and a maximum unladen gradeability of 52 percent.
For enhanced operational insights, Tadano’s HELLO-NET telematics web information service records the crane’s operation status, positional information via GPS, and maintenance data through mobile communications. The HELLO-DATA LINK feature connects the crane to mobile devices via wireless LAN, enabling real-time access to operating status, indications, error codes, and other information to streamline crane maintenance.
