Product Description
The Demag AC40-1 City is a 40-ton all-terrain crane that excels in compactness and versatility, ideal for urban and off-road applications. Its design emphasizes ease of maneuverability in restricted spaces, thanks to its 3-axle configuration with dimensions that include a carrier length of 7.34 meters and an overall length of just 8.57 meters. It can achieve a clearance height under 3.10 meters, enabling operations in areas with low overhead restrictions. The crane is capable of road travel with up to 44.2 meters of system length, making it suitable for jobs requiring rapid setup and mobility.
The crane’s superstructure features a fully hydraulic telescoping boom that extends from 7.8 to 31.2 meters, supported by four sheaves integrated in the boom head, enabling a maximum lifting capacity of 35.1 tons at full extension. Various attachments, including folding swing-away jibs (HAV7 and HAV13), provide additional flexibility and reach. The AC40-1 is equipped with a luffing jib that enhances its operational adaptability in confined or challenging environments.
Powered by a Daimler AG engine delivering 205 kW (279 hp) and compliant with EURO MOT 3A emissions standards, the AC40-1 is designed for performance and environmental friendliness. The engine drives through an Allison transmission system featuring six forward speeds and one reverse, with switchable off-road gears and a torque converter to manage various terrains. The hydraulic system is robust, supporting functions such as fully hydraulic boom telescoping and dual-circuit steering with emergency assistance.
The carrier’s design integrates a 6x4x6 axle configuration, where the first and third axles are driven and steerable, allowing precise navigation and excellent maneuverability. Suspension is managed by hydropneumatic systems, and braking is facilitated by pneumatic dual-circuit brakes with anti-lock features, supplemented by an exhaust brake. Additional options, such as transverse locks on axles, diesel particulate filters, and central lubrication, enhance operational safety and efficiency.
For operator comfort and control, the cab is equipped with features like sliding doors, extendable pedestals, air conditioning, and an electronic monitoring system that displays load, limits, and conditions. The crane offers multiple control systems, including remote controls for handling complex lifts and accessories for improved safety, like anti-sway devices and electronic load moment indicators.
Overall, the Demag AC40-1 City combines compact dimensions, powerful lifting capabilities, and advanced control features, making it a versatile and reliable choice for urban and restricted-area crane operations.
