Product Description

The Tadano ATF 160G-5 is a premium, five-axle all-terrain crane engineered for high-capacity lifting and superior jobsite versatility. Making its public debut at CONET 2006, an industry-leading construction exhibition hosted by the Japan Construction Mechanization Association (JCMA) at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, the ATF 160G-5 was quickly recognized for its excellence. It was jointly awarded “Crane of the Year 2005”, along with the ATF 80-4, underscoring its innovative engineering and operational superiority.

The crane’s hydraulically telescoping main boom, constructed from high-tensile fine-grain steel, spans 13.2 to 60 meters across seven sections. For added versatility, it can be configured with swing-away jibs and lattice inserts—offering jib lengths from 9 to 33 meters, with extension capabilities up to 20 meters. This results in a maximum tip height of approximately 95 meters and a maximum working radius of 72 meters, making it ideal for tall industrial structures, bridge construction, and heavy plant installation.

The carrier is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 502 LA diesel engine, delivering 480 kW (653 hp) and 2,800 Nm of torque. This powertrain is paired with a ZF AS-Tronic 12-speed automated manual transmission, providing reliable gear shifting and torque control. Configurable in 10×8 or 10×10 drive modes, the ATF 160G-5 includes full steering on all axles with multiple modes—normal, crab, and coordinated—allowing for precise maneuvering on narrow or complex job sites.

For crane operation, the superstructure is driven by a separate Mercedes-Benz OM 904 LA engine, rated at 129 kW (175 hp). The hydraulic system features load-sensing technology with axial piston pumps and gear pumps, enabling simultaneous, responsive operation of the boom, hoist, and slewing systems.

The winches offer powerful lifting capability, with up to 105 kN line pull and line speeds of 125 m/min, driven by hydraulic motors with planetary gear reduction and secure braking systems. The slewing mechanism offers 360° continuous rotation at speeds up to 2.0 rpm, with high positioning accuracy supported by a hydraulic motor and integrated swing lock.

The crane uses hydraulically telescoping outriggers, expanding to a full footprint of 8.8 x 7.0 meters for optimal stability. In the cab, operators benefit from Tadano’s advanced AML crane control system, which provides real-time data on load capacity, crane configuration, and safety diagnostics. The spacious cab is fitted with climate control and an adjustable suspension seat for improved comfort during long shifts.

Combining award-winning design, powerful lifting specifications, and all-terrain mobility, the Tadano ATF 160G-5 remains a top-tier choice for contractors and crane operators facing complex, heavy-duty lifting challenges in both urban and industrial environments.
