Key Features & Benefits
The Zoomlion ZAT3000V853G represents one of Zoomlion’s flagship long-boom all terrain cranes in the 300-ton category. Developed as part of the company’s next-generation “4.0” crane series, the model focuses on improved lifting efficiency, operator comfort, intelligent control systems, and enhanced transport flexibility. The crane was engineered primarily for large wind turbine erection, bridge construction, refinery projects, and heavy industrial maintenance where long reach and quick site mobilization are critical.
A defining feature of the ZAT3000V853G is its exceptionally long eight-section telescopic main boom. Manufactured from 1100 MPa high-strength steel with an oval boom profile, the boom extends from 14.9 meters to 90 meters, giving the crane one of the longest fully telescopic booms in its class. The maximum lifting height with the main boom reaches approximately 91 meters, while optional lattice jib combinations increase maximum lifting height to 120 meters. The jib system includes 12 m and 20 m standard swing-away jibs, with optional 28 m and 36 m configurations using 8-meter insert sections. For heavy long-radius lifting, the crane can also be equipped with a superlift attachment and superlift jib combinations ranging from 16 m to 40 m.
The crane has a maximum rated lifting capacity of 300 tonnes and develops a maximum lifting moment of 780 tonne-meters on the basic boom. Even with the boom fully extended, the crane still achieves a substantial lifting moment of 326.8 tonne-meters, demonstrating the structural efficiency of the telescopic boom design. The telescoping system uses a single-cylinder pinning mechanism with programmed automatic control and mechanical interlocking for sequential boom extension. Boom elevation ranges from -0.5° to 82°, allowing both low-angle heavy lifting and high-angle long-radius operations.
The upper structure is powered by a Dongfeng Cummins QSB5.9-C220-30 diesel engine producing 157 kW at 2,200 rpm with maximum torque of 820 Nm. This engine powers the crane’s hydraulic systems, winches, slewing system, and auxiliary functions. The hydraulic system utilizes electro-hydraulic proportional control combined with computer-integrated management to provide smooth multi-function operation and precise load handling. The main hoist achieves a single-line rope speed of up to 140 m/min, while slewing speed is continuously variable from 0 to 1.5 rpm. Boom raising and lowering takes approximately 70 seconds and 100 seconds respectively, while full boom extension and retraction require about 800 and 850 seconds.
The carrier is a five-axle all terrain chassis designed and manufactured by Zoomlion. It is powered by a Weichai WP13.530E501 inline six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine producing 390 kW at 1,900 rpm with a peak torque output of 2,500 Nm between 1,000 and 1,400 rpm. The engine complies with China National Stage V / Euro V emission standards. Power is transmitted through a FAST F12JZ24A automatic transmission featuring 12 forward and 2 reverse gears, with an optional hydraulic retarder available for additional downhill braking performance. The crane can travel at speeds up to 80 km/h and climb gradients of up to 48%.
The ZAT3000V853G employs a sophisticated hydro-pneumatic suspension system with axle load balancing and adjustable ride height. The chassis incorporates multiple steering modes, including coordinated all-wheel steering for improved maneuverability in confined job sites. Steering is electronically managed through PLC-controlled proportional steering valves. The crane uses 445/95R25 tubeless radial tires and maintains a minimum turning diameter of 20.5 meters despite its large dimensions. Overall transport dimensions are approximately 17.6 meters long, 3 meters wide, and just over 4 meters high. Transport weight in standard road configuration is about 73.5 tonnes.
Counterweight flexibility is another important feature of the crane. The complete counterweight package totals 76 tonnes and can be configured in multiple combinations including 0 t, 7 t, 14 t, 19 t, 31 t, 46 t, 64 t, and 76 t arrangements. The movable counterweight system allows rearward displacement of the active counterweight by 0.5 meters to optimize lifting charts and stability. Counterweight slabs are modularized for easier transport and assembly.
Zoomlion equipped the crane with an advanced intelligent control and safety system. The machine integrates CAN-BUS architecture, remote monitoring capability, GPS tracking, real-time outrigger pressure monitoring, frame inclination monitoring, and multiple sensors throughout the crane. The crane also includes integrated upper and lower remote-control systems that allow a single operator to perform outrigger deployment and crane setup remotely. Intelligent functions such as winch-following, luffing compensation, optional automatic rigging-down, and anti-sway technology further improve operational efficiency and safety.
Operator comfort was also heavily emphasized in the ZAT3000V853G design. The upper crane cab adopts Zoomlion’s 4.0 panoramic operator cabin with a tilting function from 0° to 20°, a large touchscreen display, integrated bus-button control panels, air conditioning, USB charging, improved visibility, and reduced interior obstruction compared with earlier designs. The lower driving cab similarly features a modern ergonomic layout with electronic instrumentation, adjustable suspension seating, climate control, and integrated reversing camera systems.
