Kato NK3600
The Kato NK3600 is a 360-ton hydraulic truck crane with a multi-section telescopic boom extending up to 66.6 meters. As the second-largest crane in Kato’s NK series, it was designed in response to the growing demand for high-capacity cranes in Japan, following German manufacturers’ advancements in the 500-tonne class. Powered by a Nissan RE804 diesel engine delivering 260 PS, it offers a variety of boom and jib configurations, making it ideal for heavy-duty lifting in construction and industrial applications. The NK3600 was second only to the NK5000, the largest crane in Kato’s lineup at the time.

Product Description
The Kato NK3600 is a robust 360-ton capacity hydraulic truck crane engineered for handling large-scale lifting operations. Its main boom features multiple telescopic sections, with lengths varying from 13 meters up to 66.6 meters. This extensive boom length, along with a variety of jib and extension configurations, provides the NK3600 with the versatility needed to perform in a wide range of lifting environments. The boom is constructed with high-strength steel and is capable of lifting heavy loads at considerable heights.
The crane’s super-lift system further enhances its lifting capability, offering heavy lift modes with configurations such as the main boom plus jib extensions. For example, a 45-meter boom combined with a 25-meter extension offers a maximum capacity of up to 20.1 tons. Additionally, the NK3600 can utilize a luffing jib for increased reach and flexibility, especially in applications requiring lifts at higher angles or tight spaces.
Powering the NK3600 is a reliable Nissan RE804 diesel engine, providing 260 PS (191 kW) at 1950 rpm and a torque of 100 kg·m at 1400 rpm, ensuring smooth and powerful operation even under heavy loads. The carrier engine is a Nissan RH10, offering 450 PS at 2200 rpm, ensuring efficient transport and maneuverability of the crane. The crane can reach travel speeds of up to 60 km/h, allowing for quick relocation between job sites.
The NK3600 is equipped with a robust counterweight system, which includes options for 360 tons (divided into 40-ton, 20-ton, and 10-ton segments), allowing for precise counterbalance adjustments based on load and operational requirements. The crane’s outriggers provide a wide stabilization base, with a maximum span of 9.2 meters and a minimum span of 6.2 meters, ensuring excellent stability during lifting operations.
The safety features of the NK3600 include an ACS (Automatic Crane System) that monitors the boom, jib, and hoist operation, providing real-time load data and preventing overload. The winch system features wire ropes with a diameter of 25 mm, allowing for durable and efficient lifting under heavy loads. The crane’s hook blocks offer a wide range of lifting capacities, from 360 tons down to 10 tons, depending on the configuration and load requirements.
In terms of dimensions, the Kato NK3600’s overall length is 13.58 meters, with a width of 3 meters and a height of 3.4 meters, making it a sizable crane that balances power and mobility. The carrier is mounted on a 6-axle configuration, which enhances its stability and transport efficiency. Weighing in at 44,950 kg, the crane is built to handle the most demanding jobs while maintaining ease of movement across various terrains.
Overall, the Kato NK3600 combines a high lifting capacity, versatile boom and jib configurations, and a powerful engine system, making it an excellent choice for large infrastructure projects, industrial construction, and heavy-duty lifting operations.
