Product Description

The Kato NK-400E-III is an evolution of Kato’s 40-ton fully-hydraulic truck crane series, continuing its legacy with reinforced lifting performance, safety, and operator comfort. It features a 4-section “Full Power” boom extending from 11 to 36 meters, offering impressive reach for various lifting tasks. A fly jib ranging from 8.5 to 13.5 meters is also available, expanding the working height and flexibility further.

Equipped with a hydraulic system that enables smooth, fast, and precise operation, the NK-400E-III is fitted with Kato’s signature “Freomatic” winch system. Both the main and auxiliary winches are capable of high-speed lifting at 91.5 m/min and low-speed hoisting at 41.7 m/min, enhancing job site productivity. Slewing is handled by a Glide-Master planetary slewing mechanism, offering 1.64 rpm of controlled rotational movement aided by a hydrostatic brake.

For powertrain configurations, the NK-400E-III is available with two chassis options: the Mitsubishi K354LK3 and the Nissan Diesel KG53TXL.
The Mitsubishi version is powered by the 8DC8-2A diesel engine delivering 290 PS at 2300 rpm, and 99 kg·m torque at 1400 rpm. It achieves a max speed of 75 km/h and features an 8×4 drivetrain with a 10-forward/2-reverse synchro transmission system.
Alternatively, the Nissan version comes with the RE8 engine producing 315 PS and 105 kg·m torque, offering slightly more output with a 68 km/h max speed. Both configurations use reverse “ELLIOTT” type axles in the rear and semi-elliptic front suspensions for optimal load distribution and ride stability.

The carrier includes rugged extendable outriggers with a maximum span of 6600 mm, ensuring firm stability even in uneven terrain. The crane’s cab is outfitted with safety glass windows, reclinable seat, and well-positioned control levers for fatigue-free, all-day operation. Additionally, safety features include an optional A.S.L.I (Automatic Safety Load Indicator), which warns operators of overload risks and disables hydraulic power to prevent unsafe operation.

With a gross weight of approximately 38,800 kg for the Mitsubishi chassis and 35,700 kg for the Nissan variant, the NK-400E-III stands as a robust, field-proven solution for medium-heavy lifting applications. Its blend of power, reach, safety, and ergonomic design makes it a popular choice for civil construction, steel erection, and infrastructure deployment.
