Product Description
The P&H Century 128 rough terrain crane was built to combine lifting performance, operator convenience, and ease of serviceability in one robust package. The crane features a full-depth rectangular four-plate boom construction that is both welded inside and out, ensuring superior strength and rigidity. The boom consists of a base and three telescoping sections, offering a retracted length of 29 feet (8.8 m) and an extended boom of 91 feet (27.74 m). The maximum tip height is achieved by adding optional lattice extensions, reaching up to 137 feet (41.8 m). Extensions are hydraulically powered and include both manual and optional cable mechanisms for deployment.
For lifting operations, the Century 128 utilizes two-speed P&H winches that provide a maximum line pull of 10,265 lbs (4,655 kg) on the main winch and 7,500 lbs (3,402 kg) for the auxiliary, both using 7×7 IWRC wire rope. The hydraulic system includes dual tandem gear pumps delivering a combined flow to boom, hoist, swing, and steering functions. The rated boom hoist speed is 404 fpm (123 m/min), and swing operation is managed through a 360° hydraulic motor with planetary reducer, providing 2.45 rpm rotation.
Mounted on a 4x4x4 chassis, the carrier is engineered for off-road maneuverability. The front axle is rigid and steerable, while the rear is oscillating with a hydraulic lock. A Cummins 6BT5.9 engine delivers 130 hp at 2,650 rpm, coupled with a powershift transmission offering 3 forward and 3 reverse speeds. Top travel speed reaches 25.0 mph (40.2 km/h), and the machine offers a strong gradeability of up to 48.6% under load.
Operator comfort and safety are addressed through a fully enclosed cab featuring safety glass, air-conditioning, and extensive instrumentation, including hydraulic and engine performance gauges. Safety systems include a rated capacity indicator, anti-two-block system, outrigger controls, and backup alarms.
Additional equipment options include multiple boom and jib configurations, a rear-view camera, travel stabilizers, and cold-weather starting aids. With its high strength structure, intuitive control system, and excellent lifting capabilities, the P&H Century 128 remains a reliable solution for rough terrain operations.
