Product Description
The Terex CD 225 rough terrain crane offers a 25-ton (22.68 metric ton) lifting capacity and is engineered to perform efficiently in confined and rugged environments. Its standard boom length ranges from 26 to 61 feet (8.05 to 18.72 meters), utilizing a three-section full-power, mechanically synchronized design. The synchronization mechanism includes a single telescope cylinder paired with high-strength leaf chains for smooth boom extension and retraction. All boom sections are built with welded four-plate construction and supported on anti-friction slide pads, reducing wear and providing structural rigidity. Boom elevation ranges from -4 to 76 degrees, controlled by a robust single hoist cylinder with integral hold valves.
The optional boom configuration extends reach up to 72 ft (21.95 m), increasing the maximum tip height to 79 ft (24.23 m), while lattice-type swing-on jibs add further flexibility with offsets of 0°, 15°, or 30°, allowing tip heights up to 121 ft (36.73 m). For enhanced load control, the auxiliary boom head accommodates a single sheave setup for rapid reeving and rope guard protection.
The crane’s powertrain features Terex’s box-type construction frame with reinforced members, high ground clearance, and a 4x4x4 drive system. The planetary axle rear drive system with oscillation lockout allows excellent off-road stability and turning capability. Service and parking brakes are robustly engineered for secure stopping power, and the hydraulic steering system allows two-wheel, four-wheel, and crab steering modes with adjustable telescopic control.
In terms of hydraulic performance, the CD 225 integrates three tandem gear-type hydraulic pumps with a combined system capacity of 91 GPM (347.4 L/min), delivering 3,500 psi (241.3 kg/cm²) pressure to the main and auxiliary winches, boom hoist, and steering systems. The standard main winch offers 2-speed operation with integral automatic brake and grooved drum for smooth spooling. The optional auxiliary winch mirrors the main’s capacity and function.
The environmental operator’s cab is spacious and designed for maximum visibility and comfort, complete with an air suspension seat, large glass panels, and full instrumentation. Controls are ergonomically arranged, and critical system parameters are displayed through clear gauges and indicators. The cab includes climate control options, work lighting, mirrors, and a 360° house lock for secure transport.
With robust drum capacity, rated lifting precision, and durable boom options, the Terex CD 225 delivers a powerful and dependable lifting solution for construction, plant maintenance, and utility work on rough terrain.
