Product Description
The Demag AC 40/2 is a 40-ton city crane that combines compactness, strength, and flexibility, making it suitable for operations in urban environments and sites with restricted space. The crane’s carrier is designed with a monobox main frame and integral outrigger boxes constructed from high-strength fine grain structural steel, ensuring durability and stability during operation. The 4x4x4 drive configuration, combined with dual-circuit hydraulic steering and transverse differential lock-out control, allows the crane to maneuver efficiently even in tight spaces.
The crane is powered by a water-cooled 6-cylinder DaimlerChrysler OM 906 LA engine, delivering 205 kW (279 hp) at 2200 rpm with a maximum torque of 1100 Nm at 1200–1600 rpm. This engine is compliant with EURO MOT 3a, Tier 3, and CARB emissions standards, making it environmentally friendly. It features an integrated spark catcher and a 250-liter fuel tank, providing sufficient capacity for extended operations. The automated powershift transmission has six forward and two reverse speeds, enabling smooth and efficient handling, with an integrated transfer case for enhanced traction control.
The crane’s suspension system is hydropneumatic, with hydraulic leveling that can be controlled manually or automatically, ensuring stability on various terrains. It rides on four wheels equipped with 16.00 R 25 tires, and each axle has a transverse differential lock-out. Braking is managed by pneumatic drum brakes, with emergency and parking brakes integrated, adhering to EC directives and featuring ABS for additional safety.
The superstructure of the Demag AC 40/2 features a robust hydraulic system powered by a variable displacement axial piston pump. This system permits efficient simultaneous operation of movements, with a reservoir capacity of 300 liters. The main boom extends up to 30.4 meters, consisting of a basic section and three telescoping elements made of high-strength steel, allowing the crane to handle a wide range of lifting scenarios. Additionally, it offers side-folding jib extensions ranging from 8 to 15 meters, with multiple offset angles (0°, 20°, and 40°) to accommodate different lifting needs. These jibs can be adjusted hydraulically from the operator cab for precise control.
The crane is fitted with a fixed displacement axial piston motor hoist, with an integrated planetary gear reducer, and a spring-applied multi-disk brake system to ensure smooth and safe load handling. The hydraulic motor provides slewing capability with precise control, thanks to a pedal-operated brake system. The boom elevation is controlled by a differential cylinder, featuring an automatic lowering brake valve for safety during operations.
The operator’s cab is designed for comfort and control, with sliding doors, tinted windows, corrosion-resistant coating, and integrated controls. Features include electronic load indicators, hoist limit switches, and safety valves, providing a safe and efficient working environment. The cab also includes air conditioning and additional options like bi-carburization for extended fuel range and telescopic brakes for enhanced control on slopes.
Optional equipment allows further customization of the Demag AC 40/2 to meet specific job requirements. This includes side-folding jibs with multiple lengths and offset angles, additional hoist motors, a bi-carburization system, and air conditioning. The crane can be equipped with various hook blocks (ranging from 5-ton single-line hooks to 25-ton capacity), ensuring that it can handle a wide array of lifting tasks.
In summary, the Demag AC 40/2 is engineered for performance and adaptability, featuring a powerful engine, flexible boom configurations, and advanced hydraulic systems. Its compact design, along with features for enhanced safety and operator comfort, makes it a reliable choice for diverse lifting operations, especially in urban and tight space environments.
