Product Description

Designed for both strength and flexibility, the Tadano TR-500XL-4 is a 50-ton class rough terrain crane featuring a four-section, full-power telescopic boom made of hexagonal box construction. This boom extends from 10.2 meters to 33.0 meters and is fitted with a four-sheave boom head. The synchronized telescoping system includes a double-acting hydraulic cylinder and a set of extension and retraction cables. Boom elevation ranges from -0.8° to 80°, accomplished in just 51 seconds, and includes automatic speed reduction and soft-stop functions for safety and comfort.

The crane also features a two-stage, bi-fold lattice-type jib, stowable on the boom side, with lengths of 8.8 meters or 15.2 meters and offset angles of 5°, 25°, or 45°. An auxiliary single top sheave is also available for single-line operations.

The TR-500XL-4’s main and optional auxiliary winches are powered by hydraulic axial piston motors with variable speeds. Each winch features a grooved drum capable of handling 3/4″ (19 mm) wire rope. The main winch supports up to 597 feet of rope with a maximum line pull of 14,272 lbs (6,474 kg) and a line speed of up to 163 meters per minute.

The crane is powered by a Mitsubishi 6D16-TLEE diesel engine, a 6-cylinder, turbocharged, and after-cooled unit producing 223 HP (166 kW) at 2,700 rpm and 521 ft-lbs (72 kgm) of torque at 1,300 rpm. The engine is paired with an electronically controlled full-automatic transmission, offering six forward and two reverse speeds. The TR-500XL-4 can travel up to 48 km/h and is equipped with a 4x4x4 drivetrain, giving it superior off-road capabilities. Steering modes include 2-wheel, 4-wheel coordinated, and crab steering, with a minimum turning radius of 6.7 meters.

Outriggers are four hydraulic beam-and-jack units with integral holding valves, extending up to 7.0 meters wide. The outrigger system includes automatic length detection linked to Tadano’s AML-L (Load Moment Indicator) system, which continuously monitors the boom angle, load radius, and lifting capacity, providing visual and audio warnings if limits are approached.

The operator cab is ergonomically designed and mounted on the rotating superstructure. It includes a high-back adjustable seat, pilot-operated control levers, full instrumentation, power window, air conditioning, and a hot water heater. The AML-L display provides real-time feedback for all crane operations and includes safety features like anti-two block alarms, load status indicators, and operational presets.

The TR-500XL-4 also includes a twin swing system with a hydraulic motor and planetary reducer for smooth 360° continuous swing at 2.7 rpm. A mechanical swing lock and automatic swing speed reduction further enhance control and safety during operation.

In summary, the TR-500XL-4 delivers reliable performance, safety, and versatility in a compact footprint, making it ideal for utility, industrial, and general construction applications requiring heavy lifting in confined or uneven terrain.
