Product Description
The Demag AC 395J is a high-performance 120-ton all-terrain crane engineered to deliver strong lifting capabilities with enhanced maneuverability. It is equipped with a 6-section main boom that extends up to 37.4 meters, with a maximum tip height of 50 meters. For increased flexibility, the crane can utilize additional boom extensions, providing a total reach of up to 60 meters, making it suitable for projects requiring extended reach and high load handling.
Powering this robust crane is a Mercedes-Benz OM 422 LA engine, an 8-cylinder, water-cooled unit with a displacement of 14,618 cc. The engine produces 503 hp (370 kW) at 2100 rpm and a peak torque of 206 kgf·m (2020 Nm) at 1600 rpm. The engine is equipped with an intercooler and turbocharger, ensuring powerful and consistent performance across different job sites. The crane’s top travel speed is 80 km/h, which allows for efficient transport between job locations. With a fuel tank capacity of 500 liters, the AC 395J offers extended operation without frequent refueling.
The carrier of the AC 395J is configured with a 10-wheel (6×8) layout, with the 2nd, 4th, and 5th axles providing drive capabilities. The ZF Transmatic transmission system offers 14 forward and 1 reverse gear, enabling smooth and flexible driving. Additionally, the crane employs a hydropneumatic suspension system that allows all axles to be hydraulically locked, providing stability during lifting operations. Steering is managed via a dual-circuit power steering system, which ensures precise and easy maneuverability. The vehicle’s overall length is 12,760 mm, width 3,000 mm, and height 4,180 mm, making it compact enough for easy transport and operation on tight job sites.
For enhanced lifting flexibility, the AC 395J is equipped with a range of hydraulic systems. The main hydraulic system operates with a variable displacement axial piston pump, enabling four independent crane movements simultaneously. The hoisting system includes a fixed displacement axial piston motor, featuring a hoist drum with integrated planetary gear reduction and a spring-applied brake. The hoist speed can reach 110 m/min (high speed) or 60 m/min (low speed), providing fast and precise lifting operations.
The crane’s slew system is powered by a hydraulic motor with a planetary gear reducer, allowing for continuous 360-degree rotation at a speed of 1.7 rpm. The boom elevation is controlled by a differential cylinder with pilot-controlled brake valves, offering a smooth and reliable range of motion from -1.5° to 80.5°. The crane’s counterweight configuration is versatile, with a maximum weight of 44,000 lb (approximately 20 metric tons), which is self-removable to aid in transport logistics.
Operator comfort and safety are key features of the Demag AC 395J. The spacious cab is equipped with safety glazing, a large hinged windscreen, and full climate control options, including heating and optional air conditioning. The interior includes fully adjustable seating, ergonomic controls, and digital displays for easy monitoring of load, boom angles, and other essential parameters. Safety devices such as electronic load indicators, limit switches, and pressure relief valves ensure safe and secure lifting operations.
Optional equipment available for the AC 395J includes various jib configurations, such as a side-folding 1-part or 2-part jib that can extend the crane’s reach by an additional 17 meters. Additional counterweights and heavy-lift attachments are also available for tasks requiring extra lifting capacity, and the crane can be equipped with wider 16.00 R 25 or 20.5 R 25 tires for enhanced stability on challenging terrains.
In summary, the Demag AC 395J is a well-rounded 120-ton all-terrain crane that combines powerful performance with compact design and advanced hydraulic systems. Its high-reach capabilities, coupled with robust construction and ease of transport, make it a reliable and versatile choice for lifting tasks in construction, infrastructure, and other demanding industrial applications.
