Kato NK-70

The Kato NK-70 is a fully hydraulic truck-mounted crane with a rated lifting capacity of 7 tons. It’s equipped with a basic 6.4-meter boom that extends through a three-section design to a total of 14.9 meters. For enhanced lifting height, a 5.6-meter jib can be attached, achieving a maximum lifting height of 20.8 meters when combined with the full boom extension.

The crane’s lifting mechanisms operate with efficient speeds suitable for light-duty applications. The main hoisting speed reaches 75 m/min using a 3-layer wire rope, while the auxiliary hoist speed operates at 67 m/min with 2 layers. The boom extends at a rate of 20 seconds, with elevation ranging from -3° to 78°, and a full boom elevation achieved in just 24 seconds. Slewing is performed at 3.4 rpm for controlled rotation.

Wire rope specifications include a 6×Fi (29) construction with an 18 mm diameter. The main hoist uses a 120-meter rope, while the auxiliary line uses a 90-meter rope.

Hydraulics are driven by a dual-gear pump system, and control is provided via a high-pressure double-acting valve setup. The hoisting winches utilize oil motor drives, and the boom telescoping mechanism operates through gear-motor reduction and self-locking gear systems.

Safety features include Tadano’s ACS system for automatic load monitoring, overwind prevention, boom angle and length sensors, and a hydraulic lock-out mechanism for safe lifting operations.

The NK-70 is best suited for utility works, small building construction, equipment installation, and other tasks that require mobility, fast setup, and reliable performance from a lightweight crane. Its compact design and versatile capabilities make it especially practical for urban and confined space operations.
